I realize the Spurs generally avoid campaigning and drawing attention to the team, but it would be a ing injustice if Duncan isn't the C on the All-NBA 1st team and doesn't receive serious consideration for DPOY, tbh..

He has been the best C in the NBA this year and it isn't even close, tbh..

Agreed on the best center comment.

I think there are a few legit arguments for Duncan as DPOY. On the one hand, there might be a willingness to give him a kind of lifetime achievement DPOY considering he was robbed a few times back in the day. On the other, his block numbers really aren't that far behind the league leaders, and any other statistical deficit is more than made up by the high defensive IQ. He makes the right plays on that end far more often than Larry Sanders, Ibaka, Noah.

He should win it, but he'll need a popular groundswell to actually gain the necessary momentum.

I agree that there are other viable candidates for DPOY, but Duncan should get all-NBA 1st C either way..

TD HAS to win the DPOY this year. Without him the Spurs would probably give up 120 a game. He's the anchor and the main reason we have an improved defense this year..

if you go by the last week and half or so, then that number is probably closer to 140, tbh...

Top 10 defensive rebounder, top 4 in blocks, top guy in defensive rating, best in blocks to fouls ratio.

Who else could even challenge for best centre? Dwight? Noah? Gasol?

Cosidering that Kobe will be the sg in the NBA first team, if Dwight gets the nomination for best center there would be two players of a team that is struggling to go to the playoffs in the All-NBA 1st team. This would be so pathetic that i dont believe it will happen

They vote for two guards, not a PG and an SG. Parker could sneak in.

@ at the notion of TP getting in over Kobe. Kobe is a lock for 1st team honors. The other guard will boil down to CP3, Wade, Harden, Parker. Durant and LeBron have the forward spots to themselves for the foreseeable future

No one in SA is getting anything other than maybe Splitter getting most improved but even then probably not. Is a high school homecoming queen thing. They vote the most popular girl, not the best looking one.

Everyone knows spectacular blocks are better than ones that go to your team mates.

    1st team All-NBA Defensive team or 1st team All-NBA?

All those years he split the vote for DPOY when him or Bowen deserved it.

Tim Duncan's fundamental brilliance applies on the D side as well.

Parker will still probably get an All NBA Team placement even though he'll have missed a dozen games. Shaq was still getting those even when he was missing 16-20 games every year.

Duncan will get All NBA something, if not be on both the regular and defensive teams.

Bet Kobe finishes higher on DPOY voting than Duncan simply due to that block on Lebron in the all star game.

Duncan deserves both awards this year. He has clearly been the best center in the league all year as the other contenders for that le have struggled mightily. He's also been one of the top defenders in the league for his entire career, yet never won the DPOY. He should get it on career achievement alone this year as there are no other standout contenders.

Larry Sanders has more rebounds and blocks, so that automatically makes him DPOY. That's also why Milwaukee is such a juggernaut this season.
