CBSSports.com reported that before the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas, Rush told a group of referees that he would pay "$5,000 or a trip to Cancun if they either 'rang him up' or 'ran him,' meaning hit Miller with a technical or toss him out of the game." An unnamed source identified as a referee told CBSSports.com that Rush "was emphatic about not dealing with (Miller). He made that perfectly clear."
During Arizona's 66-64 loss to UCLA in the conference tournament semifinal, referee Michael Irving called a controversial technical foul on Miller after Miller argued a double dribble call on Wildcats guard Mark Lyons. The CBSSports.com report identified Irving as one of the referees present when Rush offered the incentive. Miller was later fined $25,000 for confronting an official and inappropriate behavior toward a Pac-12 staff member in an area hallway after the game.
*Rush was director of officiating for the NBA also, including some of it's scammiest years ie 2002.
Miller simply said "he touched the ball!" from his coaches box. The "t" gave UCLA 2 points, disallowed the refs to talk it over, ensuring UCLA would get the possession on the clearly wrong call by Irving, who had a history with giving Miller techs.
Moreover, despite being the aggressor all game, AZ shot its season-low FTs, and despite settling for jumpers 30 minutes, UCLA shot enough FTs to hand AZ its widest discrepancy of the season.
Even UCLA homer Bill Walton discussed lack of calls for AZ in that game.
It was a complete fix.
Arizona still fell apart when they could have won, but the refs stole the game and gave UCLA every chance to win at AZs expense. Irving and Rush could just be puppets to a bigger issue. In the hour prior to the game, people noted a high influx of bets, and some betting irregularities.

Both Rush and Scott need to be fired.
It's disgusting and shameful.
Now Mark Cuban and Tim Donaghy (who unfortunately might make this whole story lose credibility) are coming out. Hopefully pressure keeps mounting and Scott ends up being fired for this too.
The facts are that Rush told the officials that he wanted to see Miller get a technical, and then Miller proceeded to get a technical (from a ref who's known for always trying to avoid technicals). Whether or not the two events are related or it happens to be one of the biggest coincidences in the history of sports officating shouldn't change the outcome for Rush.
Even if he was joking, he's sending the message to his officials that he would love to see Miller get shafted.
