Spurs waived him during the regular season and no NBA team picked him up. I would assume he's on somebody's summer league team.

He was the cut that had to be made to make room for Robinson. He's history as a Spur. The Spurs don't seem to have a lot of luck in the second round...with Americans, that is.

Obviously, you mean Nazr and not Robionson but I knew that we waived him when that happened. I was just wondering if we still had his rights.

A guy in his position should just go and play in Europe for a year or two and team would still retain his rights without having to worry about keeping him on the roster.

Um, Nazr was a straight up trade for Malik, no roster moves needed. Sato was cut for Robinson, a FA signee. The roster was at 15, and someone had to go to sign Glen.

It wasn't a straight up deal. Jamison Brewer was included. So the Spurs had to cut someone. They cut Sato. Then they cut Brewer later and signed Deion Glover who was cut to make room for Robinson.

He was supposed to be on the Suns summer roster, but I understand he was cut from there.

Merlin, you are correct. IIRC, they cut Sato, and cut Brewer almost immediately after that.

He was cut in late February, it was fairly late for another team to pick him up, outside the US or inside. He's a good enough player to be playing somewhere at a fairly high level. I'm sure by now he's recovered from his patellar tendenitis.

BTW, I checked and he didn't play in any of the developmental pro leagues in the USA, i.e. NBDL, CBA, ABA, USBL, etc.

Sato was put on earth to remind Pop and the F.O. that they aren't omniscient in their draft choices.

He was Lance Blanks' idea. Maybe that's why the Spurs don't mind Blanks leaving.

I saw him play in a preseason game in Dallas while on travel and Romain was very aggressive and had a nose for the ball, rebounded well. He didn't shoot well but he had a knack for getting to the FT line. He also didn't have very good defensive positioning or footwork.

Here's an update on Romain Sato. He played for Indiana's summer league team, playing in 4 games, averaging 13 min., 2.8 ppg and 2.5 rpg.
