That's the only way I know to describe the game. Four minutes to tie a game in which the Spurs were being destroyed. Four minutes to come back in the first overtime after the Warriors jumped up again. Four minutes to do it again in the second overtime with Manu's redemption shot. In each of the four minute miracles, the odds of the Spurs succeeding was excessively small.

I've watched the NBA intently since 1998 - best game I've ever seen.

As heart stopping and stomach wrenching as it was, this was exactly the kind of test the Spurs needed. They never really faced any adversity against the Lakers. , I'm not sure if they went down by more than 3 points in round 1, and neither a game nor the series ever really felt like it was in jeopardy. Last night, however, was a series gut checks.

Down 16 with 4 minutes left against a young Warriors team that is getting everything they want? Put up a 15-0 run.

Jarrett Jack finally breaks the drought with a clutch step back jumper to stretch their lead to 3 with under 25 seconds left? Draw up a play for a cold-blooded Danny Green three-pointer.

    Stops on demand.

Get down early in the first overtime? Fight through it.

Get down early again in the second overtime? Keep pounding the rock.

Give up two buckets to surrender the lead with 3.4 ticks left? Redemption dagger three by Manu GINOBILIIII!

There were so many times where the Spurs could have folded. Being down 16 with 4 minutes left, no one expects you to win that game. But they picked themselves off the mat, withstood every punch that Golden State had left, and were the last ones standing. These are the moments that build for ude and mold the heart of a champion. These are the games that give young players belief, get them used to the bright lights of the playoffs, and prepare teams for the adversity that surely will be looming should this turn into a series with OKC or Miami. This was the first of what will be many tests, and it was great to see the Spurs respond in such a miraculous way.

I vote for this as the official nickname of this game. Actually, we should have a poll.

Certainly better than that other four in Spurs history, tbh...

This team is mentally tougher than last season...

Good idea. But we need to collect a bunch of the better suggestions together first.

Spurs screwed around, and took all of 12 minutes of 4th qtr vs PHX to go from -17 to a tie. They're getting much better.

Hopefully, the Spurs shift into high gear from here on out, and we can collectively look at this game as the night they woke the sleeping giant. Golden State will certainly provide many more tough tests, especially in Oracle Arena. This should be one the Spurs look at to remind themselves that they are champions and champions find ways to win.

I was reading that no playoff team that has been down 16 with 4 minutes or less to go has ever come back...until now. It's a sample size in the high 300s.
