It's an interesting number, but in the last week, 2 teams have come back from at least 14 down with less than 4 minutes left in regulation to win playoff games. I'm not sure what the actual number is, but in these playoffs, teams in that cir stance are X-2

12 hours later and I still have no idea how the Spurs won that game.

The Bulls were down 14 at home to the Nets in their Game 4 with 2:54 remaining in regulation and won that game in 3 overtimes.

well then good thing our factoid is for teams that were down 15+ or in our case 16. the 14 point comeback doesn't qualify. although i'm sure theres' something for 14 point comebacks in less than 3 minutes too

No doubt -- it's a factoid. But it's a really nuanced factoid. Is rallying from 16 down with less than 4 minutes to go substantially different than rallying from 14 down with less than 3 minutes to go?

nope. truth be told 14 in less than 3 minutes is more impressive. they have to comeback by almost a full 5 points per minute where we had to come back 4 points per minute. but as a biased spurs fan, im going to stick with the "were the only ones to do..." factoid

I've noticed the proliferation of the oddly-parameterized stat in the last few years. Seems like every time I turn on ESPN they are talking about someone being the only player to score 18 points, grab 7 rebounds, dish out 4 assists, block 3.5 shots (not 3, not 4), and eat a pulled-pork sandwich in Game 2 of a 1st round playoff series. (Or something along those lines)

If you make the teeth in your data-comb fine enough you can prove pretty much anything. Or, "there are 3 kinds of untruths...lies, damned lies, and statistics"

You know what that is? It's some of that T-mac rubbing off on the other Spurs

Absolutely agreed. This thought occurred to me as well when Lebron was on his "run" of games scoring 30 and shooting 60%. It does say that he was getting his 30+ every night with a pretty ruthless efficiency, but was there ever really a record for that particular stat? A few years from now, will anyone recall that Lebron set that "record?"
