Why all the Windows Media Player hate?

I've wondered why so many hate it? Maybe hate is too strong a word...why do you prefer other media players to WMP? What do they do better?

Is it performance based?
What am I missing?

I've used winamp but it skips whenever I get an IM.
Realplayer was deleted from my pc years ago due to spyware and bundled software it came with.
Quicktime has that pop-up asking to go with Pro when it is activated.

Agreed. I use it the most. I don't use winamp at all. Or any other media player.

same here. I've never understood it either. So many ppl use winamp or other such proggies, and it makes no sense to me.

Winamp is much better for playing mp3s. Try getting the newest version if your having problems. WMP takes way too much memory and is s l o w loading.

I really like Eindows Media Player. And I like the swirly and colorful patterns you can choose during songs.

WMP loads quick for me...actually just testing it right now...it loaded faster than winamp...but neither one would be considered slow for loading.
