Lol no, why would he
I would be stunned if Buford left the Spurs to a team that needs to rebuild. From what I've read, Wallace would be a more viable option.
Maybe they needed a designated driver?
We shouldn't be surprised that other teams eventually go after R.C. Buford. Of all the GMs in the NBA, R.C. would technically be one of the most-wanted. Same with Pop as a head coach.
You don't post a winning season every year but one for practically 25 years straight without someone wanting to poach your head guys. R.C. leaving to a ty franchise like that for more money though, would be surprising.
Kidd k- yeah...you know the Kings new owner group is gonna pony up a lot of money for a guy like Buford. Would Holt match it if he already has Pop ready to retire in a few years and probably moving back into upper management role like Pat Riley.
i don't see buford leaving even for more money... it has to be for an insane amount of money.
Buford will stay until the end of this iteration of the Spurs Matrix. The only reason guys leave our front office is because they are stuck behind RC. He isn't stuck behind anyone.
I don't think R.C takes bait. He's got a good thing going on with the Spurs. GM of the best run team? Check. Playoffs every year? Check. Players who don't give him a problem? Check. Ownership that let's him do his job? Check.
A few months back I read something that Balmer and Hansen were prepared to offer RC some percent of the team ownership + salary + he didn't have to answer to anyone
The result was no public response but RC's friends said he didn't want to leave SA
Not going to happen, but nice try Queens.
Well, at least we know Ranadive isn't an idiot.
While Buford isn't perfect (i.e. everything to do with HWMNBN) he did things like trading for Leonard.
The Spurs just cannot afford to lose Buford and his amazing drafts right as rebuilding draws near in the next 2-3 years. God the rebuild in the mid 80s was so ugly until the team lucked into David Robinson. The compe ive advantage this team has with Buford is the thing that makes we think we'll still have plenty of exciting years even after Duncan and Popovich retire.
lol, he would never go there... unless they just threw an absurd amount of money at him, and I don't think they have it.
The Kings took a run at RC a couple of years ago.
We wont step in deep as Kings are right now.
how much control does Pop have in terms of personale decisions? is he still part GM?
In addition to being the coach, he's VP of Basketball Operations. RC reports to him.
