Even disregarding the salary issue, even disregarding the fact that the spurs got 2 Euro prospects in addition to Kawhi, the Spurs won this trade.

    Kawhi now/forever > George Hill now/forever

yup. rc should be tried for grand larceny.

then he'll represent himself in court and make a deal with the judge so mind blowing, the judge agrees to send the prosecutors behind bars with a protected top 10 pick!

I wonder how far Leonard drops in the draft if SA didn't tell Indiana to draft him? I think the next SF, Singleton went to the Wizards at 18, I think they were after him moreso than Leonard.

He probably could've slipped all the way to 20,all because of his poor combine numbers.

Apparently the Pacers had him in their top 7 or so, so were considering taking him there despite having Granger and George.

The bigger screw up was Utah's. Drafted Gordon Hayward ahead of Paul George, and then a year later took Alec Burks ahead of Kawhi. Even if D-Will forced his way out of town, I'm sure Millsap or Jefferson would have been turned into a serviceable PG.

Yes Hill was always a tweener in my mind. While he has his moments, he has largely shrunk under the spotlight this series while they sorely needed more production at guard.

Hill was surrounded by greatness in San Antonio and yet he couldn't find consistency or progress his game.

Indiana is one game away from the NBA Finals. Adding KL to that team would not have improved them enough to accomplish that. The need for the Pacers was at point guard. The proper question is was there a PG available at 15 in the draft that was better than George Hill. While Hill's offense may not be consistent as the Spurs have grown accustomed to his defense is top notch and that fits the Indiana scheme quite well. Lorbeck was never going to come to the Pacers (and likely never the Spurs) so the Pacers gave up an additional 2nd round pick which is hardly a major haul in today's NBA. I would say that from the Spurs perspective that they got more than they gave, but from the Pacers point of view they got what they needed and they got it in a hometown boy which had to be a big positive from a marketing standpoint. IMO this is a trade that was a win-win.

Hill is an above average player, you don't trade a player like him for a 15-th draft pick. But the reasoning of RC, I guess, was that the Spurs can't afford him, so they gambled on the pick instead of losing him for nothing.

Fortunately, the Spurs picked a player ready to play and with higher ceiling then Hill. And the Spurs desperately needed an upgrade at SF, since RJ fell off the cliff after joining the Spurs.

Hill wasn't that much needed, the Spurs picked Cory for a reason. On the other hand, Hill is great for the Pacers. Hill is a really good player, BTW. Shots well, drives well, his handles are fantastic, great defense too. He's just lacks vision to be a true PG.
