I'm glad he is passed the injury problems. Good on him.
In addition, they soon will sign free-agent shooting guard Charles Smith — he played three games for Portland in 2002-03 and was in Italy last season — at the veteran’s minimum (about $1 million). That makes 14 guaranteed contracts, the maximum allowed under the new collective-bargaining agreement, and pushes the Blazers close to the luxury-tax threshold.

Good news for a good guy.
I'm glad he is passed the injury problems. Good on him.
I saw the thread le and thought to myself, "Isn't that guy dead already?" Not the old broken down POS forward we got from the Knicks. Good for Portland. They may be the underdog to watch for out of the west this year.
Who is this Charles Smith, where is he from?
I still remember watching that guy drop four three's in a row against Seattle ( maybe it was the Raptors) back at the Alamodome. It was during the regular season, but nevertheless it got my attention, glad to see him back in the league.
Isn't that article wrong? I thought they raised the minimum number of guaranteed contracts a team has to carry from 13 to 14 but a team can still carry 15 if they want to...
Right.
Good catch.
Charles led the Italian league in scoring last year.
He can still ball.
I always thought Charles had potential..it was too bad about his hip. So, was he diagnosed incorrectly?? How did he get past the physical??
By playing two years in Europe I guess. How did he get past the physical??
