Pop should just leave them in SA to to rest up for Game 3.
With all the rust, a loss in game 1 is pretty much a given.
Why not surprise the Heat with bringing the big 3 off the bench two, three minutes per quarter ? Our bench almost defeated the Heat in their house with no big 3 at all maybe we can pull a win like that.
It's all benefits tbh, more rest, less injury risks, same outcome...let's get ready for game 2.
Pop should just leave them in SA to to rest up for Game 3.
No. Do you want the Spurs to go into Game 2 demoralized?
They've waited nine days and are licking their chops. They'll have more than enough rest.
Over under how many posters will take this bait?
Jesus no.. Sorry Brazil, but that's just a horrible idea/thought. If anything we need to come out firing on all cylinders, winning a game in Miami is CRUCIAL, imo.
.. me. I hope he's kidding
Start Joseph, Neal, TMac, Blair & Bonner!!! DO IT POP!!!
7 out of 10 tbh
What kind of losing coaching mentality is this? You're just going to act like a defeat in a game in a best-of-7-series is affordable, no big deal?
By the way, take Pacers-Heat as an example of how a loss in Game 1 can ultimately define or determine the entire series outcome.
We're gonna go in there and sneak away with 2 road winsdon't en worry about that
9 days of rest in between playoff series, and someone wants the Spurs to play the Big 3 for limited minutes only, for the sake of more rest and less injury risk?
Really?
I think a loss in this series is pretty much a given what with the long layoff followed by a compressed schedule, so if I were Pop I'd hold out the Big 3 for the whole series in order to get more rest for the 2013-14 season. They're going to need that rest after a long playoff run to the Finals.
Wizards fans know winning strategies![]()
It almost worked in November. Just play the bench for 3 quarters and then bring the starters in for crunch time.
No! In the past 10 Finals, 8/10 teams who won game 1 won the series. Mavs/Heat 06 and 11 being the exceptions
Tim should average no more than 25 MPG in this series.. We have next year to think about..
we shouldn't play them at all. need to be healthy once the season starts.
and we will win the series anyway!
Pop should rest the players just enough so that they aren't gassed come the fourth quarter. No more, no less.
At this stage in their careers - on the verge of retirement - I think an all-out strategy is needed. Maximum output and effort. Next season is next season's concern. This is very possibly the Big 3's last real chance to win another championship.
tbh spurs can't win the series without winning Game 1. 9 days vs game-planning vs. 2 days, if they can't win game 1, it's heat in 6
whatever it takes to come back to SA with HCA for 3 home games, Just Do It
Game 1
Game 1 is always a home game for the higher seed. The home team has won 76.05% of these games. This nearly matches the overall home winning percentage of the higher seed (75.95%).
Game 2
Like Game 1, Game 2 is always a home game for the higher seed. Two possible game 2's exist - the 0-1 game (with the lower seed having won the first game) and the 1-0 game (with the favorite winning the first game).
If the underdog had won the first game, the second game is won by the favorite 79.38% of the time. If the favorite won the first game, the favorite goes up 2-0 73.7% of the time.
This means that favorite more often wins game 2 if they first lost game 1. The combination of the complacency of the underdog, already having snatched home-court advantage back and the desperation of the favorite at the prospect of getting into a two game hole before going into enemy territory leads to a significant increase in home winning percentage.
Overall after game 2 56% of series have seen the favorite up 2-0, 39% tied 1-1, and 5% have the underdog cleaning up in the favorite's house, up two games to none over the favorite.
