Tim Duncan nails a halftime buzzer-beater in Game
Just 0.8 seconds left on the clock before halftime of Game 1 of the NBA Finals and coach Gregg Popovich summons Tim Duncan to check into the game. Announcers Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy want to know why, thinking the Spurs might run a lob play or something.
"What, are they going to throw it an inch off the floor for a lob?" Van Gundy jokes.
How about a 20-foot fadeaway in Dwyane Wade's face instead? That works, too.
Miami leads 52-49 at the half of Game 1.

solving the Heat is easier than whose shot is bigger right now![]()
Duncan's shot was outstanding and shouldn't be discredited, but if the Spurs can win this year, Parker's shot will be up there with Horry's dagger.
Finals >>>>> First round in a year you don't win the championship
Im so glad Tony made the shot....... but it was lucky as TBH... he overdribled the ball, it could have been easily a shot clock violation.... BBall gods bailed him out. YEAHHHH.
Loved Parker's shot, but Duncan's was more incredible. Parker's was obviously more important.
Really???
I agree that shots in the Finals means more, but technically the Spurs didn't "need" Parker's shot to fall to win the game (they were already winning and the Heat never scored again), and the Spurs needed Duncan's. So more of dagger than a game tying one or game winner.
Duncan's three also made me jump out of my chair and cheer. Parker's just made me cheer and do a mild fist pump. Then again I'm older and more blase than I was back then.
Im a big Tim Duncan homer but Parker's shot>>>
Not even close. The only shot in Spurs history to compare this one to is Rob's dagger to steal the OT win in Detroit.
Ask me again in 10 days.
Is there any question? Parker's shot sealed a crucial Finals win. Duncan's shot was very nice indeed, but it was against the Suns in the first round. No comparison.
Well, Parker's shot was in a much bigger game, but Duncan's was more important relative to the moment, because it was to tie the game (or was it for the lead?). This game, the Spurs were already up by 2.
I think Parker's shot is bigger. Right up there with the Memorial Day miracle.
This one was wayyyyy more important. Finals bro.
It's only clutch if the Spurs win the Finals, otherwise it's an afterthought.
1. The last three possessions by the Spurs were pretty bad. All iso Parker stuff -- the Heat were taking away everything.
2. Parker's shot will ultimately be remembered as a game-winner instead of a shot that put them up by two scores.
A little too early to have this discussion. If Heat wins this series then it will be meaningless.
I agree with the Finals vs First round...but as others have said, the Spurs didn't need this shot to win. I think both will be viewed in a similar light when one talks about great moments in Spurs history.
We already had the lead in the Tony shot, so Duncan 3
But it shouldn't be. They would have won anyway. Still an incredible moment though.
Heck even if we lose this series imho
