Don's Extra Point

Ticket 760 Sports on News 4 WOAI
Some things just don't add up. Zydrunas Ilgauskas got 11 million bucks a year Tuesday. Last week Michael Redd got 94 million.
Michael Redd??
I had an NBA GM tell me last week that Manu Ginobili may be the fifth best guard in the league behind Kobe, Le Bron, McGrady and Iverson.
The superstars make this kind of dollars…
Grant Hill (Orlando): $15,694,250
Tracy McGrady (Houston): $15,694,250
Kobe Bryant (LA Lakers): $15,946,875
Vince Carter (New Jersey): $13,843,157
Again, I think Manu is in the class of T-Mac, Kobe and Vince. They all earn around the 15 million a year mark.
He's certainly above “has beens” like Rose, Finley and Houston. He’s at least equal to Shawn Marion.
Jalen Rose (Toronto): $15,694,250
Michael Finley (Dallas): $15,937,500
Allan Houston (New York): $19,125,000
Shawn Marion (Phoenix): $13,770,000
Instead, Manu is in the class of guys like Tariq Abdul Wahad (who?), White Chocolate and Adonal Foyle.
Again, it's all relative. But last year was Manu's year to cash in. He got 52 million over six years. At the same time, Tony Parker got 66 million.
Like I said -- some things just don't add up.
Hey tlong: should he renegotiate his contract?![]()

they didnt dub him the x-factor his rookie season for nothing
This is like the third Don Harris Don's Extra Point that's been posted in the last two days.
Enough with that spaz!
Maybe Manu just isn't a greedy mofo. 52 million is a lot of money. And he wants to win. "Settling" for 52 mil rather than 66 mil is worth it if it means having the moeny to keep a championship team together. Bowen and Robinson have laid the groundwork for this Spurs team - they take less money than they're worth in order to keep winning.
Spree should be taking lessons.
yo everybody seems to be talkin about manu's contract, but u forget he signed it last
summer, after a so-so rookie season and post season performance, and a second year
was alright . only this season did he actually come into his own, so before factoring
in this season and postseason , i would say his contract is pretty much fair.
But last year was Manu's year to cash in. He got 52 million over six years. At the same time, Tony Parker got 66 million.
I get the feeling that Don Harris is a big time Manu homer and that he doesn't really like Manu. I remember once reading an article by him that clearly indicated that he thought Manu was a better player than Tim Duncan and another article hating on Tony Parker.
Manu is a great human bieng.
What's new?
Actually, all this talk about Manu and Parker taking less to stay with the Spurs, I think it was actually Bruce Bowen who started it and took less money and is the reason we were able to sign both.
don harris is still mad that kidd turned the spurs down
he wanted kidd not tp
ohhhh...he was one of those.....
That's a great article, if you know nothing about the CBA.
A little one Bonus

don hairless is the biggest jackass over at WOAI, always has been always will be
he started the bull when Manu wanted to wear 6, like Avery will ever be able to carry Manu's jock (AJ is/was way overrated and some people will just never realize that)
he has always hated on TP behind his back, then kisses his ass when he face to face with TP
I dont know why don always has to take a swipe at TP usually by lying, like all this past season, every time TP had a bad game don would say "Tony is making 66M he should be playing better". Hey don you ing lying sack of , TP only made 1.5M last year stop lying to the public.
Manu pretty much got what his market value was at the time. I don't think Parker's value should have been higher than Ginobili's, but thats the way it played out, possibly because of the age factor.
....neither?
Manu should hold out.
