His defense of throwing five guys at Tim and having the other guys beat them was revolutionary.
I know it doesn't make much sense without Shaq in his prime, but I have so many painful memories from the Lakers.![]()
I was just a lad when the Gervin led Spurs were getting frustrated by the Magic, Kareem, and the Lakers, but I thought I would never watch another series as painful as that '94-'95 one against the Rockets..... that is..... until we played the Lakers over the last few years.
Everything from having the best record and then getting swept to Derek Fisher's ".4"shot.
When I read about Kwame Brown going to the Lakers, I can't help but feel some apprehension and wonder if the Zen Master sees something the rest of the league doesn't.
As dominant as Shaq was, any Spurs fan will be the first to tell you Kobe is also the real deal. The dude killed us so many times. Is anyone else feeling a little apprehensive about Jackson back in the seat in L.A.?

I'm sure PJ will take the Lakers team to the Playoffs again. However, they still haven't made "THE TRADE" that would be them in contention again. I expect Kobe to have a monster season, I expect Odom to learn to adapt to Kobe's play and become a great second fiddle under Phil Jackson's teachings, however, they still lack a big man in the paint that could give them defense and a good PG who doesn't turn over the ball too much and gives good assists. Lakers would be in good shape if they could get Antonio Daniels..which I don't think will happen.
Actually, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Lakers are actually one of the few teams I'm going to be excited to watch next season. I'm curious to see how the whole PJ/Kobe/Odom thing will work out and I'm very curious to see how Kobe plays this season with the mess behind him, with PJ as his coach, and for the first real time, no Shaq.
God, I think I'm being pulled into their drama! I may need professional help!
Not without Snaq and MJ. Phil is easily the most overated coach in the history of all sports. Give me Snaq and Kobe with possibly the best role player of all time Robert Horry and I too can coach.
Spurs are going to spank that ass for a very long time.
lakers are getting better in a ridiculously bad ass conference, so whatever that means i'm not losing sleep over it
You're kidding right? Even Pop couldn't manage to win 3 straight with David and Tim...give credit where credit is due. It's very hard to win a championship year after year, much less 9 with 2 different teams. MJ and Pippen didn't win until PJ came along. Shaq and Kobe didn't win until PJ came along.
How can anyone say a coach who has won 6 rings be over-rated? Year in Year out, whatever team he has coached has been in contention.

Jackson can't win with the lineup the Lakers are fielding. They're clearly in rebuilding mode.
exactly 1parker1 he's always had bad ass tandems hes never taken a 1 man show to contention and never will...
Make that 9 rings with 2 different teams. 6 in Chicago, 3 in LA.
I would be worried if he would have a Team to coach...
Let's all remember this thread if the Lakers are deep in the Playoffs and people are saying Jackson couldn't do it without Kobe and Odom...
I'm not worried about the Lakers. Spurs are a far better team and will continue to be for the near future. Lakers will still struggle to get into the playoffs next year, in fact most Western teams will be AT LEAST as good as they were this year, some better.
Who can?
Name me 1 coach in the NBA that can take a 1 man show and turn it into a championship team![]()
Damn, I can't add. In my defense I'm at work
Thanks for the correction.
I'm apprehensive, but I hope that I'm just "feeling" that damn mystique a little too much.
My head tells me that, indeed, Ginobili and Parker are coming into their own now, both on offense and defense, and are far more worthy opponents mentally now also. This goes for much of the team. Duncan is truly not alone anymore. In fact, we're starting to build our own mystique...
That said, I didn't like that they landed Kwame...
Well, Rudy, although he didn't really turn the Rockets into a championship team. They just sorta became one while he was there.
For the OMB?
I'm not worried about the Lakers this season, it's next season that they will be a lot better. This season they will be a playoff team, but they still lake quality coming off of the bench. Until they get a bench, and Kobe proves he can be a leader, they will not worry me.
I hope you're not an accountant ... or processing my payroll then.![]()
Finance and Marketing major.......maybe I should just stick with Marketing?
Is anyone else a little worried with Phil Jackson back in the seat?
The Lakers
so then what are you worried about now?????
Phil USED to be invincible. But the Spurs beat LA in '03 and the Pistons did it in '04. The bloom is off the rose, the mystique is history, and the talent that brought him so many championships is long gone. LA will be better with PhilJack but until they get some major talent aren't going to challenge.
