lol "changes"
With the news today that Doc Rivers is hinting that he does not want to return to the Celtics, it really hit me how many awesome coaches are available right now for teams. Of course some may not return to coaching, but the list so far is:
Doc Rivers (Says its time for a change)
George Karl
Brian Shaw
Lionel Hollins (Grizzlies coach)
Jerry Sloan
Phil Jackson (Said he would consider taking the Lakers job if 'changes' were made)
Byron Scott
Stan Van Gundy
Jeff Van Gundy
I can't believe how many solid coaches are available. The most DEPRESSING part as a Lakers fan is that the got Buss is commited to sticking with D'antoni. Why Jim? Why?!!!!! $20 says Coke head fires D'antoni 40 games in anyway and all these epic coaches find a job.
Worst thing to happen to LA since that 7.0 quake

Out of those 9 coaches, only 4 are above average (Phil, Sloan and the Van Gundy), tbh...
It'seven debatable whether Sloan can coach a twitter-era team and Stan Van Gundy still has his together as a coach...
dam... sux to be a lakerfan dis yr...
Don't forget VDN!
Sloan, Phil, and the Van Gundys aren't coaching and if you're gonna list Byron Scott, you might as well include other retreads like McMillan, Gentry, and VDN.... that being said, Doc, Karl, and Shaw alone are enough to make this possibly the best free-agent coaching pool ever, tbh....
you shouldn't count Sloan, Phil and JVG, they are not really on the market.. If you do, then you should count Riley too..
what about jason kidd?![]()
Sloan is the best available out there it seems to me, but I don't think any current NBA team would allow him the overall monopoly over the team like what he was used to in Utah, and there ain't many players in the current league who can fit well in Jerry Sloan's system imho. Van Gundy brothers are overrated, while the likes of Brian Shaw are never rated at all. There's a reason why teams would rather hire assistant coaches of the Spurs and warriors as their head coaches rather than those big-name free agent coaches imho
