No surprise that the U.S & rest of the west would want to support these guys; they love terrorists.

So what's your opinion of McCain supporting those rebels for the last several months? It's hilarious watching GOP sycophants find interest and turn on this issue now that the Dem POTUS supports it.
Further this is an oversimplification. AQ is gaining support because they are actually aiding the rebel forces. The main body of the rebel forces have been ingratiating themselves to the West. OTOH, many fighters on the front lines are getting aid from AQ and are trying to win.
I guess it's a difficult notion to understand. The rebels of the American revolution also comprised of multiple factions primarily the Virginians and the New Englanders. It took a great leader in GW to coalesce them. If we do not get involved then we cannot influence that.
We do have a geopolitical advantage in a Sunni Syria. It would mean the end to Hezbollah starting civil war in Lebanon everytime they don't get their foreigner ways the same as in the Gaza Strip.
this could become a proxy war USA/rebels contra Iran/Russia/Assad.
I disagree with McCain.
I see so you had issue with McCain's stance yet said nothing despite a visit to Syria and repeated statements by him.
Dem POTUS OTOH gets multiple posts regarding it.
I get it.
Now that the cat's out of the bag, I wonder if Obama will still support them?
Obama is the one who said they crossed the red line. Let Syria handles there own issues,
McCain has been stating the use of sarin gas merits US intervention for months now. Syria is beyond handling their own issues. Arabs, Persians and all other manner of interests are intervening. McCain doesn't want the Syrians to go on their own either. So why no criticism there these past several months?
Is McCain the Commander in Chief?
Does anyone really car what McCain says?
The fact that people are ing about what he says on foreign policy issues is a joke, as it's been well known he's as big a hawk as they come, what they seem to forget is he's just a senator not the POTUS.
The only reason why he even came close to becoming president was because of his running mate, and that still didn't pan out.
There was almost zero enthusiasm for McCain until Palin hit the scene.
He's the chair of the senate armed services committee. Apparently he gets a pass because he is a GOP leader.
But what is the other side? There are several extremist groups, most notably the Al Nusra Front, fighting Assad in Syria. They have been fighting alongside the FSA on multiple occasions. No doubt some of our military aid will end up in their hands. If they win, our aid will be forgotten and they will turn on everyone who isn't Sunni in the region, including Jews, Christians, and Shia. Do I want Assad to win? No. But do I want those guys with advanced weapons in their hands. Big negative on that as well. This situation is so convoluted that, frankly, I don't know who to support. If Assad wins, so does Hezbollah and Iran, if the Sunni's win, so does extremism...And they will eventually turn on the Israelis as well.
Seems to me like a lose-lose. We should stay out and let others take the brunt. While supporting the Sunnis in the short may be the right thing to do, in the long run it may be detrimental

Furthermore, the Sunni uprising is helping the insurgency in Iraq. If sectarian strife continues there, it will most likely push the Shia led gov't in Iraq toward Iran, which is far more dangerous than the status quo.
Again, jmo, but there are basically no good options for our leadership. My take is that we should continue to stay out of it and let others take the lead. If we get overtly involved, it will only lead to bad days down the road, regardless of who comes out on top
I've been more or less supportive of the Obama administrations line thus far, but as soon as they take sides, it will result in very bad things in the future, regardless of who 'wins' in Syria

It's RINO and he is a leader of the RNC. He is GOP.
I know what it is I dont proofread my posts, and no. He's an old got that nobody cares about and needs to go ahead and pass away of old age.
Good stuff. Seems you are savvy to the goings on and I appreciate that.
I get the concerns about weapons falling into the wrong hands so to speak. The issue that I am concerned with is if we were to completely stay out and the FSA were to win then we could have a political animal in the Salafi with a lot of power that is worse than Hezbollah given sanctuary in Syria. I by no means think that we should go this alone but the Arab League and various EU states have already intervened with military aid. I think that ship has sailed.
I say we nuke them all from orbit, just to be safe - Ripley
This exactly why I feel that America should just stay out of it, including any aid.. There is a no win situation here, just let them fight it out and the winner is the winner for better or worse.
Why not just let them kill each other? I mean why the not? If private charities want to give Syria money and aid, then let them but let's stay the out and let them just implode on their own.
