Well here we go again with the rumor mill. But considering how poorly Manu and our other role players are playing this year, as well as no clear "Next Tim Duncan" in line, maybe management opts for this unlikely scenario and makes this possible.

Howard has yet to show proof that he's fully recovered from a serious back injury. Besides all that, he's too expensive, has too many offensive limitations and above all else, he's NOT Spurs material. He's an immature, tempermental wanna-be superstar.

I know 1 poster who believes that Howard is physically fit. Maybe we can ask that poster to inform PATFO about his knowledge.

I can imagine Pops saying this to Howard "You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting."

It's a risky proposition for any team to undertake - and one I can't envision the Spurs making - even if they had the cap space to do so

game 1 vs spurs: 20 pts, 15 rbs, 2 blocks
    game 2: 16 pts, 9 rbs, 4 blocks
    game 3: 25 pts, 11 rbs, 2 blocks
game 4: 7 pts, 8 rbs in 20 minutes prior to ejection

Look, I do not like D howard either, but please do make him out to be a non all star type player. He played 1 on 5 against the spurs and put up some pretty damn good numbers for not being 100% (according to your insight). I agree that he is expensive and immature but making Howard out to be anything lesser than a top 1 or 2 center in the NBA is dumb.

Kobe was gone. They had no backcourt. His numbers will always look good. But he sees himself as an individual, and he is a mental midget. He is a top big man. But he has to be on the right team. You think the Spurs could bring out the best in him?

No way he comes so it does not matter. Popovich with Howard... I think Dwight would break down.

The Spurs will need to find a star big man once Duncan retires. Why not try to get Howard?

    Physically, he's formidable. Mentally, he's a midget. He's perfect...for the Lakers.

Lol @ People rejecting Dwight's services. This move would slide SA from "Contenders" To "NBA Favorites

For Duncan- An athletic big who will draw most of the attention, make life easier for Tim
For Parker- Dwight is great at catching the ball, AND he's a powerful finisher inside the paint. So this would help TP's style as well.
For Green- Dwight will get multiple double teams once he starts clicking, this would be a perfect time for Green to shoot open three's
For Leonard- With his improved ball handling/mid range shooting, He'll most likely be a bigger part of Spurs' perimeter presence next year. This will also draw more space for him to work, cause again; Dwight draws multiple double teams.

Spurs are currently 2-2 with in the NBA Finals. A move like this? They'd be simply unguardable. For the first time in Dwight's career, He'd be playing in a legit system where he'll get room to operate and a supporting cast to match his production. Not to mention a great coaching staff to work on his flaws (Shooting, Passing, etc.)

But this would never happen, Dwight will obviously sign in some Big-City with a ty system and different role players coming yearly.

Dwight Howard will never come to SA. Ever. And I'm glad. He's either staying in LA or going to Houston. Dallas and Atlanta are long shots imo.

Poor Analysis by Dan. Obviously, Splitter wouldn't come back if Howard were signed -- that's a no brainer. Manu likely wouldn't be resigned because must of his money/ball touches would go to Howard instead, and Duncan would be retiring soon, so if they were over the cap, management would likely live with it if it were only for one or two more seasons. Still a long shot though.

NBA favorites because of his personality, not "Contenders" because of how he performs. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, only IF Pop gives a thumbs up after assessing his overall game.

Excuse me. I never said that Howard was a pedestrian center. I just said that he's not demonstrated that he's fully recovered from his back injury. He lacks his usual explosion that he's famous for - something that I believe makes him a huge risk. I also stated that he's a wannbe-superstar, which is a lot different from being a real one. There's no doubt that he's an upper-echelon player in this league, but until he can put a team on his back and carry them, while demonstrating a better offensive reportoire, I believe he'll simply be nothing better than a perennial an all-star center, without a championship pedigree.

We need a rebounding big man. It would help us against the West and Miami next year. Plus Pop could get him mentally right. If it doesn't work, Pop would bench him

Read the second part of my signature. It's a direct quote from Pop. He can't magically "fix" players. That's why they are picky about who they bring on board.

People are assuming Dwight would buy in, and I'm not sure that's a valid assumption. He's immature and gets driven by his posse to leak from the locker room when things aren't going his way. You're not going to separate him from them at this point in his career. It's been his business model for years.

The over/under on an anonymous trade request away from SA, if he were to sign here, is about 3 months.

If he by some miracle ends up with the spurs, the same media that has followed him around and put him on an underserved pedestal (just cuz he's in LA) will suddenly talk about how he is the biggest baby, most overrated off season signing this offseason by any team. Then will proceed to ignore the spurs next year as well.

I've mentioned before that signing here would rehabilitate his image and show he wants to learn and grow as a player. But he doesn't want that so he ain't coming here.

The Spurs would never sign Howard because he is incapable of 'getting over himself', which is a requirement to be on the Spurs Roster.

He is just not "Spurs Material". And I'm glad.
