Trading a coach, wtf. This was talked about at the trade deadline too.

Pierce is also in the discussion.
If Clippers get Garnett they could probably win the west next year
people dont realize how huge changing DeMonkey for a defensive anchor with a midrange J is
Pauls game gets a lot better with a legit pick and pop option and Griffin gets spacing to operate
I think that Chris Paul and Dwight Howard should join forces. They should sign with the Atlanta Hawks. I would love to see Mike Buddenholzer succeed.
Outside of acquiring CP3 the Clippers front office has been awful. In this #1: trading for a coach (who does that) and #2: Having Pierce and Garnett would be great, 5-10 years ago, but I wouldn't be able to justify it considering the assets they would have to give up as well as the hefty salaries. This trade would not put Clippers over the hump. It might bring CP3 back, but definitely not a championship.
Cool, Doc Rivers coaching a relevant team again. Let's see how well his defensive schemes do when he's not in the Leastern Conference.
That wasn't in the article. How would Pierce be traded he has $15 million plus Garnetts $13 Million. The Clippers would have to move Butler, Jordan,& Bledsoe along with a 1st rounder, and a 2nd rounder. Pierce would have to be cut and sign with the Clippers from what I'd understand.
Btw teams don't trade for coaches. The coaches' team has to agree to waive the contractual provision that provides that while the coach is under contract they won't seek other employment. Of course a coach can quit his gig, beaching his contract, in the hopes of something better. When teams are said to give assistants permission to talk to other teams, they are waiving their right to deny the assistant that ability. Here the celtics are essentially telling Doc that they will waive the non compete provision to allow him to talk to another team while he is still under contract with the Cs. Doc is not being traded to the Clips.
That would be a pretty stupid move on both team's parts, IMO. A healthy Celtics squad this past season is arguably just as good (if not BETTER) than the Clippers. And the Clippers would take a step in the wrong direction by taking a soon-to-retire player and a soon-to-retire coach when they should instead try to land some big names in the draft or FA. Maybe try to trade their picks and Jordan in order to move up.
