Great article! But bittersweet because we all know the end is coming, sooner rather than later. When Tim Duncan walks off the floor for the last time, I will be crying. I'm so happy that I got the opportunity to witness the Duncan era - there will never be another one like it - ever.
Really well put together feature, considering there was no way either of the principals was ever going to go on the record.
Well done.![]()
This was one of the better articles I have read on ESPN in a long long time. Very very good read.
Excellent. Thanks for posting.
Awesome article. It's pretty long, but it's worth reading the entire piece...![]()

When Tim Duncan almost swept the voting for NBA Rookie of the Year. The San Antonio Spurs star captured 97 percent of the votes - 113 out of 116- from a panel of NBA writers and broadcasters.
Duncan was the first rookie to play in the All-Star Game since Grant Hill made the lineup in '95. During the season, he averaged 21.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 blocks a game. Solid!
trivia :
Q : who was the other rookie who got the 3% of the votes ?![]()
Van Horn? Nobody else in that Draft class.
Great article. The love and respect Pop and TD have is so genuine. When I read this story, it reminded me of this hilarious Jerry Maguire clip.
I can picture LeBron and Spolestra in the roles of the guys at the end of the clip.
nice read go for 5
Not related to the thread but I never noticed the little online symbol looks like a tiny alien erection. Carry on.
sniff sniff....
Had tears in my eyes. Great read!
I can still recall that year when all my friends at school were all hyped about Tony Battie, Ron Mercer, Keith Van Horn and Tracy McGrady while I was rooting for Tim because he's different, in a very inexplicable way. I was 11 back then, was too young to know why I liked him, I just did. 16 years after, here I am still rooting for him and our Spurs.
Hope they close this one for Timmy's 5th.![]()
