I am not sold on Tiago Splitter and someone will overpay for his services. So why not sign Josh Smith.

Josh Smith may be the best James defender in the league.

Splitter plays smaller than his size, and players like De Colo are a dime a dozen in today's NBA.If San Antonio were to land Smith, he and Duncan would make a formidable duo in the middle. Duncan has had success in the past as a center, and Smith's ability to stretch defenses with his outside shot (averaging a career-high 34.5 percent from three) would allow the team to really space out the floor.
Both big men can play inside and out, which would make life difficult for opposing defenses.

Smith is a better rebounder and a more intimidating presence in the middle than Splitter—despite the fact that Splitter has a few inches and 15 pounds on him—and San Antonio would become a truly dynamic team on both sides of the court with him in the lineup.
As a bonus, Smith would be a nice insurance policy for the inevitable moment when Duncan finally decides to retire.

I'd love big Al, if only he could play some defense.

Negative. Smith is a horribly inefficient jumpshooter. teams would be sagging off of him, daring him to shoot the trade off in defense isnt worth it when we already have Green and Leonard on the wing, with Leonards extension coming up soon. we can get better value for our dollars

Big Al is a back to the basket player and the NBA's new offense is going away from that.

Lol will never happen. Or AL Jefferson. Some team is over paying for both of them this summer. Plus R.C said the reason they didn't seriously entertain the idea of trading for him is because he is not a "Spurs kind of guy." The Spurs are going to re-sign Tiago Splitter, whether you like it or not. (sucks, I know)

Agree but his shooting is a bit shaky. But I love his athleticism and defense.

He is arguable one of the top 5 post up players but way too slow on defense.

Josh Smith is not a championship caliber player. He can't create his own shot in the half-court, he is a below average shooter and has a low basketball IQ. He would be completely exposed by playoff defensive schemes tbh.

some of you people dont realize that spurs only sign players with a certain disposition, and smith is not one of them.

LMAO at posters that actually want Smith. He's a horrible playoff performer(not even that great in the regular season either). , he makes Parker look clutch in comparison.

Well obvisouly spurs are not a championship caliber team this year. Maybe a Josh Smith needs a Coach like Pop to develop him.\

You're a moron. He has a career playoff TS% hovering around .484. He makes Iverson look efficient.
