Hmm...
lol, try reconnecting everything... unpluggin, and pluggin back the soundcard?
So all of a sudden my sound card or something in my PC isn't working.
What happened?
My screen went bonkers for a bit...I turned the PC off and on...I had to shut power off to get it back on....and then the sound went out.
Can anyone suggest ways to fix it?
Thanks,
Z

Sound Card? 50% Chance it's fried. The sound card is very sensitive, I once was adding a modem and I accidentally touched the mother board with my Phillips screw driver and I saw a faint spark, BAMM! Sound card was out,
First off try and restore your PC to an earlier date so I know it's not just a driver.

Now I need you to find a pair of head phones, Plug them Directly to the CD ROM.
Put in a Music CD and let me know if you hear anything, This will eliminate any mother Board Failures.
Do this now. I charge by the posts![]()

Check your multimedia drivers in your control panel. If they appear to be functioning properly, try disconnecting the power to your speakers or using spare speakers to test the connection to your sound card. If that doesn't work open your case and check that your card ( I assume its not onboard), is pushed firmly into its PCI slot.
If none of that works, congratulations, you just bought a new AUDIGY soundcard.
Welcome to BUSH Country,

Well, another thing you could try is dumbing your drivers and restarting your machine. The drivers may have been corrupt by the cold stop. You might also want to scan your HD for errors after you get your sound working.
until you have a Poke E Mon rookie like he does? I will not be your friend also. I will not let you in my club house. and others will not read your cheesy topics,

Well, I did a system restore and no luck.
When I click on a song I get:
Cannot open the audio device. Another application may be using it.
Hey I have waxed my carott to many silent porns, as long as you can see it you should be at least one half happy. Would you rather just have sound?![]()
If you put a Music CD from the Store into the CD Rom then you can press play from outside the PC, get a pair of head phones , and plugg then into the CD Rom , and tell me already, why do you not obey? untill you do what I say? I can't go any further,![]()
what do you mean press play from outside the PC? If I put a CD in ...it will automatically play
The CD is a hard ware , it can operate on it's own, it just needs power.
If it works, then I will know what steps to take from here,
Sometimes the Mother board sound output will go out but you can still use the front head phone jack located on the front panel of your pc, just hook the speakers to that location like I did, go to the face of the PC, what Brand is it?

First off do you have a sound card. I don't know how pc literate you are, it would be something like a video card that you pop into the motherboard that has connections in the back of the pc. If you do, take it out and reseat it.
If you don't and it was working before your motherboard might be on it's last leg.
What type of pc do you have?
Well, apparently the sound card went out (on-board). So I had to install a new one and all is well.
Thanks for the suggestions though! :cool
