It's the off-season es.
Seriously Hear me out, I have nothing against pop, to me he is top 5 coach in the league and my favorite one. It's hard to me to say this but after the big time heartbrake he cause to spurs fan, his huge failure and dissepoitment in the game 6, he can't just keep his job like nothing had happened, it's not how the world work, the team will not have chance to return to the right track with him, sad to say but the team need fresh start at the coach position...
It's the off-season es.
No. He lost in the Finals, how is irrelevant. 8 WCF appearances in 17 seasons in unbelievable. 5 NBA finals appearances for a small market team in less than 2 decades in unprecedented. Threads like these make me feel like Spurs fans are more of a problem than Pop is.
The Spurs won 20 straight games including 10 straight postseason games and then lost four straight in the WCF after being 2 games away from the NBA Finals. The Spurs had the best record in the league for a good chunk of the season. Injuries to key players such as Leonard, Duncan, Parker, & Ginobili all missed at least 10 games and we still won 58 games and 15 postseason games.73-29 this past season and 60-20 last season.
In the past two seasons he lead us to a combined (regular and post season) record of 133-49 (.730). If you know anyone else in the NBA who can replicate that success then you should be a GM.
By the way in recent seasons the team who loses in the Finals come out strong
After the Pistons lost to us in 05' they won a franchise record 64 games and had 4 all stars
After the Mavs lost in the Finals in 06' they lost 4 games to start the season and then preceded to go 67-11 en route to a 67-15 mark.
After the Thunder lost in the Finals they won 60 games this past season.
Spoiled Spurfan is spoiled. Nothing to see here, move along.
How unexpected . . . . . NOT!
What a tired old take.
if every person were held to the standards some want to hold coaches and players to, the world's unemployment rate would be 100%.
I am sure he'll get a job elsewhere..do you want Pop to coach the opposing team? when he knows the moves of Duncan, TP, Manu & Kawhi..their weaknesses![]()
This.
Enough with the ing and whining. This forum is just BUCKETS of sad these days.
Get. The. . Over. It.
You don't fire a top 5 coach in the league. The other 4 won't be available, because their STUPID fans aren't calling for their heads, so you'd have to go with a lesser coach. Stupid.
Wouldn't have to worry about Pop coaching against them. Tim and Manu would retire IMMEDIATELY if they fired Pop, and Tony would likely demand a trade.
Needed a GM like Vince Mcmahon after the finals to let Pop have it![]()
Not Pop, he should get on the weak ass fans on this site.
Shut the up
All true but you missing the point... I'm not argue that he is not a great coach and help us a lot getting where we went, but because the end of game 6 collapse that he cause and responsible to and the extraordinary heartbrake and devastating he cause to all spurs family It's the mental thing for the team that will be hard to carry on with if him continue as a coach, it will bring Chemistry and confident issues between the team.
Shut the up you ing spoiled .
NASF is almost as en led and annoying as bandwagon Lakerfan.
Ok genius, whatever you say.
I guess your world is different from the NBA world. He will keep his job like nothing happened, and the team will still get into playoffs, and have a fresh start at a new season.
Pop did up and cost us a ring but he is one the best coaches in the NBA.. happens..![]()
exactly !
I've been hating Pop for the mistakes that he made in Game 6 but firing Pop is taking things too far. There are lots of NBA fans out there that wish they had a coach like Pop that can get his team into the playoffs year in and year out. Pop is stubborn and fixated on the way he does things but he's still a great coach. He just fuc*ed up.
Pathetic thread.
Funny, I can recall in the past you have said like Pop rode on Duncan to 4 les; he didn't do anything. Changing your opinions now I see?
I'll never change my opinion. Pop and Manu cost Timmy #5 but that doesn't mean that I would want Pop to be fired. And yes without Tim Duncan, Pop would probably have no championships. How many championships would Tim Duncan have without Pop under a different coach? I guess we'll never know. How many rings would Jordan have without Phil Jackson but under a different coach? Those are some tough questions. Bottom line is that you need that superstar like Tim Duncan or Michael Jordan to win championships.
