Obviously, this is a sham, but will the league do anything about it? Is there any way to prove anything? Especially if there is no immediate benefit...maybe just a promise of something down the road in Mother Russia or something.

That was before their team was stacked. He only coaches stacked teams. He may be holding out for Miami, though.

I'm bummed Andre didn't come play with S.A., but if he was going to go to any other team..I wanted it to be the nets. It'll be fun watching that team come together, and they're in the east. If the spurs played them in the finals, I like their odds..imo, though they won't win one(if they do) for another couple years. By then the spurs will be out of contention:-(

If you are referring to the Nets, I want to ask if you realize how old that team is?

Nets have everything on paper... except for a veteran coach. Good luck getting a rookie coach like Kidd to reign in the egos of all the superstars.

Most of them have played against Kidd the majority of their careers. Im sure they all respect him. As one of the best PGs of all time I'm sure he has a fairly good idea of how to coach.

There must be something behind this deal (AK talked about his future after retiring).

Unless they'll make it to the finals, Brooklyn will be the headache of Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, NY, not so much for the Spurs.

Deron Williams & AK47 played well in Utah before even made it to the WCF against the Spurs, I only doubt how good J.Kidd will be as coach...

With the fact that the NBA did nothing to the Heat for clear and obvious tampering and collusion between everyone involved in that, I don't see why they would do a damn thing to the Nets who are literally handing the rest of the NBA 82 million dollars in luxury tax this year. Their "shady deal" was a lot less damaging to the NBA, and will barely redefine the conference at all unlike what happened with Miami which changed the landscape of the entire league.

I don't forsee the NBA doing anything since loads of money is being doled out to the other teams in the league in addition to a very sizable amount going into the pockets of the NBA itself as well.

If anything, they should be concerned with how Prohkorov's spending will change the salary cap (it will go up considerably). Of course, they probably aren't concerned with that since it means LA, NY, and other large markets can spend more without paying tax too.

How does the salary cap work in regards to it increasing? What makes it increase?

It's based on how much the NBA makes each year. Lemme see if I can find a site for you so I don't screw up the explanation.

    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q13

It usually goes up. Having a superteam together, especially in the NY market will just make extra money for the league. NBA isn't going to their pants over what the crazy russian's doing. The NBA's upper echelon were probably toasting eachother at some expensive place with $2,000 wine and $200 steaks.

This situation asks for a new rule.
Opting out for $10M, next contract has to be worth at least 80%, or something like.

Let it go. Nothing is going to change. It's not like he'd come to the Spurs if some under-the-table deal was discovered.

think about Richard Jefferson opting out of his contract with us, and then finding a team that would pay him 80% of that.. He'd be forced out of the league for no reason..

Then dont opt out, i dont know, change the rule, let them receive offers without having to opt out in the last year.
Im just giving an example, I havent thought of the best way to do it, Im just saying, this AK47 contract is laughable, we all know it. In fact, he opted out KNOWING that he will get more money from the Nets, this is no coincidence, he knew. Also, noone understood why he was doing that, $10M, thats a lot to leave on the table.
    Well...now we have the answer.
The Spurs, like many other teams, WASTED time and money trying to acquire him. This affects everybody.
This thing doenst need prove, he either got money under the table, or he is mentally disabled.

Maybe Im angry because I keep trying to watch the NBA as a game...
