How was this so skilled offensively for a big man and why can't current centers have his wide skill set? could post up es and shoot the nice midrange j. I Don't get all the hate on him from rogue tbh, ain't his fault he had weak feet and played with choking pussies like tmac

One of the best centers of all time tbh

I always liked Yao, it's a damn shame he couldn't stay healthy.... he used to humiliate Bible Kemp back in the day

He should have been a much better rebounder and shotblocker given his stature

he was a special talent, his size + soft hands were a unique combination, but he wasn't nearly as good a defender as he should have been and the injuries, well..

this dude was amazing. high bball iq, such high skill. you can't fault being stuck in his body which would be really hard to move around and be athletic with.

look at cody seller. dude measures off the charts at combine but can't instinctually move his body. has no fluidity or touch. Yao is a hall of famer on pure game alone tbh. not on longevity but on peak game.

don't even need his global ambassador crap to get into the hall.

Yao was a decent player and I know it's unfair to call him a tbh, but is he one of the all-time greatest? He's probably not even the greatest of his time imho. As good as he looked against certain type of centers like Bible Kemp and Camby, he also sucked bad everytime being confronted by the likes of the two Al's (Jefferson and Harrington, though Harrington was not even a center), and even Erica sometimes.

Dude's legs were strong enough for NBA games but his upper body was more like that of a 's without s. Dude only matched up well against those springy centers who lacked strength (like the young Bible Kemp), while other guys who were either damn quick (Harrington) or super stout (like Jefferson and Ericka) were always nightmares to him imho.

I believe that his career would've lasted longer if JvG didn't turn him into a low-post only type of center. Dude had consistent jumpers but his mid-range shooting skills were basically wasted and gradually abandoned under JvG's administration, he was made to take a lot of contacts which speeded up the wear and tear of his huge body. Not to say he had to play through the summer almost every year on his national team.
