Bipartisan Crowd Funding Effort Raises Thousands To Pay Conservative Blogger’s Hospital Bills

Caleb Howe, a regular contributor to Erick Erickson’s conservative RedState site, is in the hospital with liver failure. Because Howe doesn’t have health insurance, he and his family are worried that they won’t be able to handle the impending bills — but the Internet has stepped in to help.

On Tuesday, a page for Howe was created on the crowd funding website GoFundMe, explaining that his family needs to preserve his health for the benefit of his two daughters. “It would lift an incredible burden for Caleb [and his wife] Donna if they could get even the smallest amount of help with these upcoming expenses and with anything extra that comes in,” Howe’s page explains.

And, more than likely, he will never understand the irony.

Nothing is more free-market than begging for handouts via a crowd funding website.

If it works for him, then we'll hear him and other right-wing assholes saying "crowd funding your health care bills works for everybody", would be like dubya saying, paraphrase, "Everybody in America has universal health care, just go to the emergency room"

No one is forcing to help him.

I don't get how this addresses the non-universal healthcare stance that tea partiers endorse is being undermined here. Someone care to explain how it does?

Sucks to be him. Should have bought insurance. I agree with Mingus, no has has to contribute so who cares if a friend has a website to raise him some money.

He could've bought insurance and he would've been in a better situation, at least financially if he had done so. But the "insurance" doesn't mean "Obamacare" or any sells. Obama is nothing but a income/ticket winner for the government and Obama himself imho
