Officially, it never happened. W was in a one-car accident, he rolled his own car on a sharp corner, but he was so boozed up that except for some glossy eyes and about a 12 pack of beer that just happened to fall down his throat at the time of the accident, he came out relatively unscathed. You gotta remember this was 1973; you really had to be ed up to get arrested for DWI in those days. Anyway, by then W's dad was a hot-shot in Texas politics, so it took like 2 phone calls to the local Sheriff to get W out of the local pin and all the do ents of the arrest, including his mug shot (if one was taken) destroyed. The accident story has been collaborated by many witnesses who say they were there when W was booked after the accident. It has been further collaborated in many books. Many claim that W was doing heavy Coke in those days.
