For those of you who have followed European and Italian League Basketball, Scavolini Pesaro is flat broke, out of money and is shutting down operations as a team. The team has been in existence for 60 years.

Very sad indeed because this team has a rich heritage. Marko Milic played there, as has former NBA players such as Vinny Del Negro, Chris Gatling and George McLeod. Here is the article (unable to cut/paste it):

    Kinder Bologna, Pesaro...

Who cares? Money makes the world go round', the world go round', the world go round'!

So why should we care? Well, I'm sympathetic to Milky Way Milic. Hope he gets a spot in another team. Is his job secure?

Milic left Scavolini earlier to help relieve some financial pressure on the club from his contract. Apparently a decent gesture, even though he knew things looked very bad.

It looks like Scavolini is going to be resurrected, but in no way like it was before. See below. Instead of playing in the top Italian League, Series A...Scavolini will merge with Falco in Pesaro and they'll play in a third tier league, the B1 league.

The rebirth of Scavolini - July 22, 2005 - by Gianni Pascucci
Less than a week after its death, Scavolini Pesaro rebirths, starting from Serie B1. Yesterday, the officials of the second team in town, Falco Pesaro, agreed to merge their energies with Scavolini group and to found a new team, to put back the town at the top of Italian basketball. The new team will be named Scavolini-Gruppo Spar Pesaro, the team colors will be the traditional white and red of the town, and Walter Scavolini will serve as the Honorary President of the new team, while Stefano Vellucci will stay as the Team President.
