Utah is beatiful, SLC is not.
Has anyone ever been to Salt Lake City? And if so, what's it like? I've only ever lived in the inner city my whole life, but have a chance to move there for a year to work.
Utah is beatiful, SLC is not.
What's so bad about it?
It's not exactly a happening place for someone who's single and in their early 20s. You'll be bored out of your mind. I was their in November last year and it didn't take very long to realize how little there is to do.
Really? That sucks, but I'd be making close to 30 an hour, and it's only for a year.
Is it hard to get weed out there?
Sounds like a good deal then. From what I could tell, the cost of living was pretty low so at the very least you'd bank a lot in a year. There was zero traffic during what you'd consider rush hour in the downtown area when I was there and from what people said that was pretty much the norm. It's not a bad place to live or anything and the city itself isn't rampant with Mormons (suburbs are a different story) it's just not a singles type city at all. Skiing and snowboarding is also a HUGE deal there and I'm not into winter sports at all.
Probably not. UofU isn't anything like BYU and has plenty of people who party so there's def plenty of weed hookups in the UofU area.
Won't be as easy as shown my card though.
Thanks DoK. The place would pay for my housing as well as (partially) food. Not a bad deal. I can use this to o off my car and save money and buy me a newer car in a year or two.
the mormon s will attafck u and convert u in thei rtemple.
I remember SLC as being beautiful, but one, I'm from San Antonio, and two we only passed through. Depending on the part of California you're from the scenery might not mean . For the claim that the city is boring, they say the same about San Antonio. It is what you make of it I'm sure. Also, maybe take a road trip to Colorado or California to pick up some bud and come back? There is usually zero security on a state to state border.

You going for construction, bro? Knew some s that went to Nebraska for construction and made $35 an hour tbh.
it's in a valley and it can be pretty smoggy sometimes.
I'll be doing scaffolding.
That city looks so damn small.
lol, thats your reason not to go to SLC?
You can find whatever you want. There are areas (in decent parts of town) where you can certainly get some weed. It's probably just as easy as finding a store that sells beer.
I loved SLC. If you like the outdoors, I don't know if there is a better state. During the winter you can go skiing and snowboarding as well as some great spots for cross country skiing if you like the workout. The Spring and summer is great for mountain biking and hiking. Take a trip through Aspin Grove (by Sundance) during the fall for some of the most beautiful pictures you will ever take.
Women are hot, SLC is not Provo or Orem. Great public transportation which is free downtown. They have fixed up the downtown area from the Winter Olympics and there are some great spots to hang out now. I was just there last month for business for 2 weeks and I loved it.
All that said, Utah in general is better if you have a small family. No other state has as many parks in their cities and national parks, rivers, lakes within a relatively short drive. If the money is worth it to you, I say go for it. I think you'll have a great time.
I'm just saying if you drive outta the valley it gets a of a lot nicer and much prettier. SLC has some great breweries too - Epic, Uinta.
Have not been in over ten years but I doubt much has changed...Close to Outdoors activity…Hiking hunting fishing ATC’s horse back riding…Deer season opening day used to be a local holiday so Dads & Children could go hunting…People are generally nice, some redneck low life mentality mad at city folk moving there & running up the price of real estate…Every street is numbered as to how far away from the temple they are…Mormon temple is ground zero…Great outdoor stores if you like nice hunting boots, jackets & gun holsters…You can buy ammo at convenience stores you but need to go to a state run liquor store to buy alcohol…(Thought that was strange)…Some great old mansions from the days of polygamy…These days the huge structures are rented for wedding parties & banquets…In the summer they have cook outs in public parks where you can sample Elk, Deer or Moose, things LA folks would find appalling…Some very nice people who are genuinely saddened when you tell them that you are not LDS & are not interested in being converted to one…
Last time I was there was probably 15 years ago and while the countryside was beautiful and the city was nice, the biggest thing I remember is the road construction everywhere and traffic congestion. Hopefully by now that is fixed; unless of course it's like San Antonio and that stuff is never finished.
That giant hole in the ground…Kennecott Copper…The mine is open 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.
Visitors may come (weather permitting) April 1 through October 31, seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m…
That copper mine employs a lot of people & they are very proud of it...![]()
Lots of California Samoan gang bangers run the streets . Worked in Wyoming but traveled to SLC almost every long weekend but other than the Samoan bro's its a great little town .....
I love that! There's a copper mine (Chino?) near Silver City NM that I love to go to. Just park and watch those electrohauls wind up and down the sides looking like little Hot Wheels. Once I saw an enormous thunderstorm happen right over the mine with huge lightning and wind and rain; I was at eye level with the storm. Very cool.
The lake smells like and you'll be surprised at how many hot es there are.
