Ah saltiness
face it, there's no video evidence of it...you had old guys not properly record taking...could barely see and willing to inflate Wilt's stats to get him the record against the smaller white guys.
Kobe's 81 is far more impressive according to Espin...
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/column...arc&id=2302749You'll recall, sadly, that there's no footage of Chamberlain rumbling for triple digits in Hershey, Pa., on March 2, 1962. Which makes it tough to commission an in-depth analysis comparing Wilt's feat (scoring 100 of his team's 169 points that day) to Kobe's (81 of 122). But there's really no need. The folks who did see the 100-pointer and the game's historians would be forced to tell you that the entire fourth quarter was a back-and-forth scramble between one team trying desperately to get Wilt the record and another trying to keep him from getting it. Wilt himself is quoted on the Basketball Hall of Fame's Web site as calling that fourth quarter "a farce."
The Washington Generals are better than the Toronto Raptors that year.
I have yet to see a video of Kobe actually leading his team to a le
He led his team to the "Biggest Failure in Sports History" le this past year, tbh....
This > Kirby's stat-padded, ballhogged, and ref-aided 81 against a ty Raptors team....
One of the most accurate posts I've ever seen. Congratulations.
But there was still a team trying to stop him from getting the record...and he still did...
kobes record, raptors dont play a lick of defense
the game where he outscored the mavs for 3 quarters, recognize
kobe's god disguised as a basketball player. seeing a deity walk among us is an indescribable feeling. I'm blessed.
there's also 56 pts in 3 quarters against the grizzlies. 61 in MSG, double nickel against Jordan, 9 straight 40 pr games, 4 straight 50+ pt games, 12 3 pointers in a single game omg I can go on and on, point is Kobe's a real mother ing beast![]()
^ got ^
those teams he padded his stats against, those teams are horrendous with alot of records scored against them, so if anyone having a career night against any of these teams is nothing to gloat about
Kobe's 81 was scored against a Raptors team that started Matt Bonner at the 4/5 and would win the 2006 Draft Lottery (which they used to pick Andrea Bargnani;Colangel
l)
some of my other favorite kobe moments
18 y/o kobe dropping pippen's # on jordan
30 in a single quarter
man, kobe has a plethora of 50-point explosions and a litany of playoff conquests. this guy is absolutely amazing.
the Lakers were playing terribly. they were behind 63-43 at halftime and looked lifeless, but then young kobe took over, carried shaq's ass away from humiliation. bryant scored 33 of his 38 points in the second half schooling mcgrady and the magic
and we all know this is one of the reason why dwight left, kobe baptized him when he came to the league (kobe also basically nailed dwight's coffin by taking dwight's only chance to win an nba le as an alpha in the 2009 nba finals) but yeah, this was a jarring reminder to which dwight couldnt ever accept
speaking of baptism, how about "the Dunk" on Yao? funny thing is people focus on the dunk alone completely overlooking the fact that kobe also had 52 pts 8 rebs 7 assts
65 against the blazer aint that bad too
how about 48 pts, 16 rebs in the real 2000 nba finals?
and this really hurts me as a spurs fan but gotta give this guy props
oh yeah, buzzer beaters in 2010 alone
