Didn't Hibbert just sign a long term contract?
Clearly hypothetical but both could happen with Josh Smith and Drummond in Detroit and Hibbert having clear ties to Duncan and SA.
Who would you prefer?
Didn't Hibbert just sign a long term contract?
c'mon man...
"clearly hypothetical"
I still maintain hope that Hibbert will one day come to the Spurs.
But that will not be any day soon. More likely after he is old and washed up.
DIDN'T READ
I'd choose Hibbert, even if just for the fact that they respect each other and train with each other and would be happy for each others' success and probably really work well together
Greg Monroe is the closest thing to Tim Duncan there is in the game.
Actually, I think I mentioned this topic earlier on that thread I made about Tim Duncan practicing with Roy Hibbert. I beleive that Roy Hibbert will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015. That is the year that Tim Duncan and Manu are supposed to retire or their contracts expire. That is also the year the Spurs are supposed to have all this cap space to work with. I think it would be lovely if Roy Hibbert becomes Timmy's replacement after retirement.
wow that's a tough hypothetical. Roy Hibbert has a lot of rapport with Duncan and is a beast on the low block. However, it's been proven that Greg Monroe is a better viable option on offense. Given the fact that Duncan has worked well with great passing big men in the past, I might give the edge to Greg Monroe. However, it would be a sight to see Roy Hibbert dominate the paint so Duncan doesn't have to
Monroe..cause I think Hibbert is destined to break down early
Hibbert one of the last "true" big men. For sure Hibbert.
Hibbert, but the chances of getting either player are slim and none.
Monroe would be a better compliment with Splitter going forward and would be great with Duncan for that year, so I'd go with him. I'd take Drummond over either, though. He's exactly the player who could benefit most from Duncan's tutelage.
With TD hibbert... W/o TD monroe
I think Monroe is much better offensively and could be molded/tutored by Tim/Pop to be a defensive presence with good fundamentals. Hibbert is tantalizing though, dude is a giant out there and his defensive presence with Tim would be Twin Towers all over again
Either one would be great to have. The deciding factors for me is that Hibbert works with Duncan so he might know a bit more about how the Spurs do things and could potentially transition to the Spurs system faster. The Spurs also have the big man coach from Indy as well. So my choice is Hibbert.
