    Ooops... I mean pears.

Just saw a news report on the local news. Pear growers in Oregon are loosing millions of product in their pear crops. They blame immigration policies. I blame the people on the public dole that think they are too good to make $200/day picking pears.

Actually, an experience migrant picker will make about $200/day. The beer belly couch potatoes would likely be lucky to pick enough to make $50/day.

    Anyway...

My solution is the same. Supply and demand wages. Raise the wages enough more that you will entice workers.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for these growers, relying on law breakers to provide them with cheap labor.

I found links of this complaint year after year in a search. The news today claimed $50 a tree loss of fruit rotting on the ground.

Lib s complain about cheap labor making shoes and clothing overseas. Why not in our orchards?

    They don't work every day.

A few days or weeks for one crop, wait a few days or weeks for another.

    It isn't stead work.

    B- ...

You don't know squat about this topic, like others topics you refer to, do you?

Same old problem. It's a world economy.

Pears grow just as good in Mexico as they do in Oregon and it's cheaper to grow them in Mexico. Unless you go the Harry and David route it's all about price.
