I just got the new 4 room deal and let me tell you.....
I have been living in this house for ten years and I don't understand why I never switched from Time Warner......
DirectTV rules. The picture is 100 times better. The channels are cool as and the features are ggggggggggggggreat.
Plus its cheaper.....

There is no comparison. DirectTV is awesome. You get everything. Even music channels for every type of music that exist. You have alot of options like ordering the nba league pass or get the sports channels. You can even look ahead on the schedule to see what is playing like 36 ahead of time on the remote without buying a tv guide. You can get tivo for $50 bucks and $5 bucks a month and be able to pause tv and etc. This is the way to go.

When it rains it has to rain hard or directTV still works. It hasn't been a problem for me. The most I've seen it go out is 5 minutes at a time. No big deal.

If the dish is mounted securely and the signal has been peaked properly, you shouldn't experience rain fade very often at all.
Um... you can do all that with Time Warner digital.
And a DVR (Tivo but not called Tivo because Tivo is its own thing) for 10 dollars a month.
Technically, the DVR is something like $12-15 since it includes rental (which you'd have to pay since it's also required for digital service) of the converter.
Time Warner requires a buried cable..........

Well, I had a TW Digipak with the HD box. Then traded it in for the DVR HD box. On my bill it says "9.95" for the DVR converter.
So you don't pay for DVR service. Nice.
buy the rain guard cover for the dish, put on dish, problem solved......Wait until it rains.
Installation is free with TW as is customer service.

The thing is, you don't get as many channels with Directv than with TW.
Like with DTv you get 4 or 5 of the 7 HBO channels. With HBO you get all of them.
