That's why I've said many times that the Spurs need a quality big bad, to backup Splitter/Diaw and that 37yr tired old bag. They need a defensive-minded big to accompany Duncan and to save him energy for the offensive end, like the 08' Kurt Thomas. Splitter and Diaw are decent players but most of their value lies in their offensive abilities rather than defensive ones imho.

we been saying that for decades already, ever since The Admiral retired. truth is, it's probably not going to happen. Diaw + Splitter is a huge improvement over other frontlines that we've had in the past, Elson, Oberto, Rasho, etc. Unfortunately, back then we had a prime Timmy who could carry any old scrub to a le. Now, we have old Timmy who needs help obviously, but IMO if Splitter can find his nutsack somehow and if Diaw can keep his output up to the playoffs, I'm pretty happy about the frontline.

Spurs will live and die by their wing players and PG anyway.
