A few early-season stats taken from SportVU that people might be interested to see:

    1) Splitter ranks 3rd among 86 players (who face at least 4 shots at the rim per game) in opposing FG% at the rim with 28.6%. Duncan is 6th with 32.6%.

    2) Parker has the top pull-up FG% among players who take at least 5 such pull-ups (taking a shot outside 10 feet after one or more dribbles) with 52.3%.

    3) Among players playing at least 15mpg, Mills has the fastest average speed on the court (based on distance traveled), at 4.9mph. Among players playing at least 30mpg? Parker leads at 4.6 mph.

    4) Parker is third on the list of players with "hockey assists" with 2.1 per game.

I think the biggest difference between the Spurs Twin Towers and the Rockets is that the Spurs version is so much better offensively. Sure, Tiago sucks outside of 3 feet and has the softest finishes in the league, but he's got great passing instincts. Of course, Timmy is an ATG.

Tony's pullup is one of the hardest things to guard in the league, to the point where the book on defending Parker is putting a bigger guy on him and never let him get free through plays like the loop. He also runs the offense well enough that he doesn't need to make the pass directly to the shooter, because the best shot is always two passes away.

The amazing thing about Mills' speed is that he doesn't seem out-of-control, even when he gambles for inbound passes.

Interesting stuff ... people should just stop ting on Splitter for his limited offense. For years everyone wanted to get a Spurs type defense back and now that we have it they want more offense. Two way players are rare and Tiago's passing abilities do not make him a liability. And about Mills, I watch many NBA games but I have never seen a guy steal so many inbound passes ...

    1) Makes sense - Spurs since TnT were paired have been absolute beasts at defending the rim/paint. 3 ball has been the issue.

    3) Not surprising - ever since they introduced cameras to track speed, TP has always been one of the tops.

    4) I said that the other day without actually having the stats. I thought he was probably number one, but top 3 matches the eyeball test Many of us have spoken about how TP could average a ton more assists but this team makes that extra pass. His passes set those up so many times.
