I'm convinced tbh
sons now I know the Saints haters are going to hate no matter what, but of all the ignorance that gets spewed whether it's on here or on ESPN it's the myth that the Saints struggle as a road team that is the most comical. I guess any team in any professional sport that plays in a dome is going to have to deal with that typical stereotype, but against the Saints it is completely unfounded and downright ridiculous. lets just look at the time since Brees and Payton came to town. here are the facts -
2006-07
Home: 4-4
Road 6-2
Overall: 10-6
2007-08
Home: 3-5
Road: 4-4
Overall: 7-9
2008-09
Home: 6-2
Road: 2-6 (only bad road year)
Overall: 8-8
2009-10
Home: 6-2
Road: 7-1
Overall: 13-3
2010-11
Home: 5-3
Road: 6-2
Overall: 11-5
2011-12
Home: 8-0
Road: 5-3
Overall: 13-3
***2012-13*** Goodell Agenda Season
Home: 4-4
Road: 3-5
Overall: 7-9
and this year 2-2 so far
so sons you see? I mean ... 4 out of their last 7 seasons they were a better team ON THE ROAD than they were at home! (not counting this year since it's still going)... the Saints are better than most teams when playing on the road and in recent years (last 7-8 years) have been a top 5-7 road team in the NFL. this post isn't meant to brag in anyway, it's just to educate those who buy into everything that the media tells them. you have to understand that the sports media desperately needs a story to sell when hyping up games and what not. I saw a Sports Illustrated magazine cover the other day that read something along the lines of "can Payton overcome the road blues?" and I just laughed at the pure ignorance. all you have to do is take a few minutes and look up the facts.
now let's take these hot fire truth bombs a step further .... let's look at the most recent years (not counting this season since it's still going) compared to all NFL teams. here are the last three NFL seasons ...
Overall Road Record for 2010-11, 2011-12, and 2012-13 seasons
Patriots: 18-6 (wow)
Falcons: 16-8
Steelers: 15-9
Saints: 14-10
Bears: 14-10
Packers: 14-10
Eagles: 13-11
Ravens: 13-11
Giants: 13-11
Texans: 13-11
49ers: 12-12
Bengals: 12-12
Broncos: 12-12
Redskins: 12-12
Buccaneers: 11-13
Jets: 11-13
Cowboys: 11-13
Chargers: 10-14
Dolphins: 10-14
Lions: 9-15
ans: 9-15
Colts: 8-16
Chiefs: 8-16
Seahawks: 8-16 ... (take away their rigged home field and this is what happens)
Raiders: 8-15
Panthers: 7-17
Vikings: 7-17
Rams: 7-17
Bills: 5-19
Jaguars: 5-19
Browns: 4-20
Cardinals: 4-20
What do their offensive #'s look like (pts, yards, RZ efficiency,TO differential, etc) home vs away during that stretch? Not a rhetorical question, I honestly don't know.
Made a long ass post that nobody cares about
grats
not true.
it's full of hot fire truth bombs that not even the most passionate Saints haters can argue against.
I think its more about how the Saints seem to put up superior numbers at the Katrina Dome than it is how they perform on the road. Well, you did lose to the Jets so that accounts for the lolz...
almost every team in the NFL puts up better numbers at their home stadium than they do on the road.
I'm willing to guarantee that in ANY sport most teams put up better numbers at home.
You're right. However, there are places where the HCA is just tangible and I think the Superdome is one of those places. Cameron Hill, Camp Nou, Death Valley...places that the home team thrive off of and it intimidates players.
I think that almost all NFL stadiums give a good home field advantage that can intimidate players.
the bottom line is that over the last 3 years (I could go even further back than that and the Saints road record is even more impressive then, but want to keep it recent) ... there are only 3 teams in the NFL with a better road record than the Saints.
the Seahawks are the team with the most absurd home field advantage in the NFL and arguably all of professional sports. I mean just look at how pitiful that 8-16 road record over the last 3 years is compared to their home record.
5-1 this year so that is what matters most at this point in time.
they are having a damn good year no doubt, but they are terrible on the road. probably should have lost 3 or 4 of those games. most notably...
Carolina 12-7
Houston 23-20
St. Louis 14-9
my point is that MOST teams don't play as well on the road as they do at home. the media (mainly ESPN) just likes to literally create a story to have something to talk about.
Agreed. Those three games could've been losses for the Hawks and with their road woes--I am glad they aren't. Not sure why we even still pay attention to ESPN.
I do my best not to, but sometimes it's impossible to ignore their stupidity.
It's also funny I guess in a sense that its like watching a car crash as it gets your attention though you swear you're not a rubbernecker. For instance, besides Lee Corso, how much punishment USC was reportedly going to take from Stanford. It was all they could talk about on the college show they do during the weekdays.
The Saints got butt ed on the road
the only thing worse than the Saints on the road is being a welching ass clown tbh.
