Al Michaels will keep his seat in the broadcast booth when Monday Night Football moves to ESPN in 2006. The play-by-play announcer will team up with ESPN Sunday Night Football analyst Joe Theismann, who’s been with the network since 1988.
Michaels had turned down an offer from NBC, where he would have remained alongside current MNF partner John Madden once the broadcast network’s Sunday night coverage begins in 2006.
ESPN will also begin running a two-hour live pregame show that will be produced from the site of each Monday night game. Chris Berman will host, and anchors Dan Patrick and Stuart Scott will also have some kind of role on the new show.
MNF sideline reporter Mic e Tafoya will also make the transition to cable, where she’ll be joined by her Bristol counterpart Suzy Kolber.
Longtime Sunday night commentators Mike Patrick and Paul Maguire were not included in the reshuffling, although both are expected to stay on at ESPN in another capacity.
Although terms of Michaels’ new contract were not disclosed, earlier reports indicate that the veteran broadcaster will be calling MNF games through 2013.

i'm sure Costas will be involved in the deal on NBC either in the studio for pre game and half time.
I in hate to hear that Cris Collinsworth is goin to be on NBC which has to suck as that guy is a moron.
I wish it was Mike Patrick, Joe Theismann and Paul Maguire doing the MNF games, those three are great together.
Leave it to ESPN to screw things up.
