Cojo/Green/Airs package for a SF
Is he the most hesitant guard you have ever seen in a Spurs jersey, tbh?..
I can't remember a Spurs' guard that was so hesitant and afraid to be aggressive..
Cory Joseph possession = barely able to dribble to half court against a press, waits for Manu or Tony to get the ball from him near half court, waits for the other team to hedge/trap him on the pick&roll, makes a shaky pass..
Other moves include driving halfway, stopping and picking up his dribble..
Cojo/Green/Airs package for a SF
Absolute trash. If I were Nando I would just fly back to France without telling anyone. How do you get beaten out of the rotation by this guy![]()
Play Nando. Cut Cory, tbh..
Nando = fearless playmaker.
Cory = scared.
I don't get why Patty just simply doesn't get more minutes... is he tired, tbh?
because Pop has ing lost it. since he lost Bud and Brett, he doesn't care about life anymore.
Players like Joseph have been obsolete for years, tbh..
Defensive-first PGs that can't create offense are no longer useful in today's NBA..PGs generally can't lock down opposing PGs anymore, at least not enough to negate poor offense..
to be fair, Patty started way too out of control... one of the main reasons the team gave up that 19pt run... but still, he can shoot. Cojo on CP3 was absurd.
Popovich just overthinking everything and micromanaging guys who dont need it
Boris went off in the first half and was nowhere to be seen in the second
Patty has serious flaws, too, but he always has to be defended by the opposing team, he's always a threat to score, unlike Joseph slowing the offense and afraid to make a mistake..
Good offensive potential + poor defense >>> No offensive potential + good defense at the PG position in today's NBA, tbh..
Cory Joseph, IMO, is in a tough place. He needs to develop and he can't do that playing very limited minutes and constantly being asked to do well in such minutes.
The Spurs' best backup PG is Patty because he is a different player from Parker and he can gel well with Manu. But he is not a pure PG and can't be always relied upon.
The best Spurs' backup PGs playing limited minutes during the TP period were mostly veterans who knew to make the right plays in those minutes. Guys like Jacque Vaughn, TJ Ford for e.g.
I don't see the Spurs being the best place for CoJo and vice versa. CoJo can certainly develop in a place like Orlando or Philadelphia who do need PGs.
Man i had high hopes for Cory, it seems he has regreassed![]()
cojo=elite defender..................... cojo=legit pg...................
it sucks that Cory's offense has ended up being so poor. he never shoots when he's open for 3, if he would shoot those with confidence he might not be completely useless...
with patty, he's always got a chance to go off so you have to play him, but his defense is pretty bad. reggie jackson all over him.
Joseph is a better defender. But is terrible offensively.
Mills isn't a great defender but he try hard and uses his quickness to try and make plays. Offensively he is drastically better.
Pop logic is to put Joseph in for defense and, i guess, rely on others (Diaw, Marco, Manu) to carry the offensive load.
Joseph is a bust in terms of a Spurs 1st round pick. There I said it.
I couldn't agree more.
Defense at the PG position is overrated anyway. Having a good offensive PG is more valuable than having a guy that can only defend one position, has no jumpshot, and has no ability to create for others.
Cory is a below average PG, he should play for a team who is not going to make a deep playoff run.
Speaking about hesitation, Im tired of lots of guys doing it like Green, Kawhi, Bonner, just ing shoot pussies!
I also think its fair to say that Pattys defense has improved this season, from horrible to passable. Cojo might need to have a Patty off season where he gets himself in great shape and gets up about 500 reps a day
Agreed on the first part. If Joseph didn't already do that in the offseason then he should be immediately released. Clearly Patty Mills knew that there was a rotation spot available on the team and worked accordingly.
And passing up open shots...
Too bad we got snookered into picking up his option for this year and next
This is what I find so humorous about the rampant criticism of Tony Parkers defense. Spurs fans must not watch any other basketball.
