“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

‘Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson: You can’t get STDs from ‘Biblically correct sex’

Dynasty star Phil Robertson painted sexually-transmitted diseases as being diametrically opposed to Christian beliefs in a recent sermon,

“Biblically correct sex is safe,” Robertson said during a sermon in West Monroe, Louisiana last month. “It’s safe. You’re not going to get chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, AIDS — if you, if a man marries a woman, and neither of you have it, and you keep your sex between the two of you, you’re not going to get ever sexually transmitted diseases.”

Robertson went on to blame “orthodox liberal opinion” for the spread of “debilitating diseases” around the U.S. and the world and accused his audience of being — like himself — “sexually immoral” at some point in their lives.

“Man meets woman, marries her, keeps his sex right there,” he said. “The children come, the chances of them getting a sexually transmitted disease, would you say is almost zero? You can say it.”

This morning the Court issued additional orders from its September 29 Conference. Most notably, the Court denied review of all seven of the pe ions arising from challenges to state bans on same-sex marriage. This means that the lower-court decisions striking down bans in Indiana, Wisconsin, Utah, Oklahoma, and Virginia should go into effect shortly, clearing the way for same-sex marriages in those states and any other state with similar bans in those circuits.

for the first time, same-sex marriage is legal for the majority of the U.S. population. The 26 states where the practice is not legal have a total population of about 151 million.

The Supreme Court’s decision may also lead to the legalization of same-sex marriage in Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming. Those states have an additional 25 million people combined. If they follow suit, 30 states and the District, totaling about 60 percent of the U.S. population, would allow same-sex marriage.

Two years ago at this time, same-sex marriage was legal only in Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont and the District, which together have about 11 percent of the U.S. population.

if Ginsberg retires and a Republican appoints her successor, things could go the other way legally but it seems clear the SC's conservative bloc wasn't confident about Kennedy's support. (it only takes four justices to grant cert)

Ginsberg said she won't retire since the Senate would not approve any but another extreme right-wing activist Repug/VRWC political hack like the current 5.

sincere intentions are just that, intentions.

Subjunctive mood, viz., wish or intention re: a future state of affairs.

facing an unknowable future, sometimes people say things to psych others up.

I hope Justice Ginsberg gets to stay as long as she wants.

Whatever one thinks about the prospect of Ginsberg outlasting Obama's Republican successor, that is in the first place a briskly optimistic wish.

so you suspect Ginsberg is politicking, misleading, LYING?

We all know Senate Repugs would obstruct all (moderate, liberal) Obama nominees.

We all know it's 5 to 4, America is already badly screwed and will be for MANY years, Ginsberg wants to block 6-3.

you're over-reading this. I don't suspect Ginsberg is misleading anyone. The implication that Ginsberg will serve until age 87 and beyond, is very optimistic, is all.

    (Ginsberg is what, 81?)

She's obviously a trooper for progressive, useful, productive govt, so it's very courageous of her, a cancer survivor (so far), to stay on the court. Due to DINO Senators, it will take a lot more than 51 to make sure 51 vote for the Dem nominee.

Despite 1.6 Billion Dollar Budget Hole, Louisiana Is Still Subsidizing Duck Dynasty

Louisiana’s state budget is in shambles under Republican Governor Bobby Jindal. The Governor’s dogmatic anti-tax ideology, coupled with dropping oil prices, has put Louisiana 1.6 billion dollars in the red.

The state has become an economic basket case, and Governor Jindal’s approval rating has plummeted to just 27 percent, according to a March 2015 Triumph Campaigns poll.

Despite the state’s economic woes, however, Governor Jindal has made no plans to cut millions of dollars in subsidies to the Duck Dynasty TV show. Louisiana has the nation’s most generous entertainment tax credit program, which doles out generous sums to subsidize filming, including funds for filming the showDuck Dynasty.

Feeding Time Productions LLC, the producer of Duck Dynasty, is seeking 11 million dollars in new tax credits for the next four years to subsidize costs for filming the show.

Since Governor Jindal has proposed no changes to the entertainment tax credit program, that funding is likely to be approved.

Although Louisiana only recovered 23 cents in revenue for every entertainment credit dollar it approved of in 2013 and 2014, Jindal wants to preserve the status quo.

He regards removing entertainment subsidies as tantamount to a tax hike.
