One of the things that is so great about the Spurs is that they would never allow anything like this to happen. When the time came to pick up another year on Parkers contract they did it, even though it cost Parker money, the Spurs were looking out for the Spurs first and foremost and let Parker know that this was business, and that is how they deal with everyone. Management kept thier options open, and then this year they worked out a deal to keep Tony from hitting the open market, imagine all the suitors that TP would have, bad playoffs or not, the upside for Parker is tremoundous. Joe Johnson is going to earn max money when he would have settle for a Parker like contract if Phoenix had not played hardball over 5 million, something the Spurs avoided.
What happened in Cleveland is all on management, they should have known better.
