when cooking up some onions.....do you prefer yellow or white?

I almost always use white. Whats in your pantry? I don't see the need to over pay for shallots either.

It depends what I am doing. i'll generally grab the yellow sweet 1015's for beans, general cooking, grilling for burgers, etc. Purple for green salads and potato salad.

White....the best ones are flat and not round....yellow for stews or slow cookers ....purple for salads or burgers
