maybe you should try wearing loose pants or no pants at all, which imho would ease the discomfort (though I've never done this myself). you need some space between the newly-shaved area and your underwear so the stubble wouldn't stick into and get caught in the cloth.

I use one of those trimmers that might as well shave it all off but it won't be as smooth as if I use a razor.that way I can also trim the actual ball hair, not just the surrounding area, and I sure as am not putting a razor down there
