my husband took the test 3 weeks ago.
he said it was amazingly easy, but he asn't sure how he did becasue he skipped breakfast and then at lunch discovered he had brought his lunch bos but not his lunch.

last week(friday) he got a letter from toyota that he did well and they want him to come back for the next level of testing. It's a team test. He's going to call tonight to scheduale it. Only thing that sucks is they only have weekday testing for it and he'll have to take the day off. Also it's 9 hours.

I thought the tests were easy.

I'm going next week for my Group problem solving exercise and Simulation. A friend has already gone through that phase and said it was easy as well.

Well, good luck to everyone with their interviews/testing, but working for the Japanese would drive me nuts.

Too strict and regimented for my South Texas cowboy ass.

Maybe if US plants were more strict we wouldn't have lost all those manufacturing jobs?

Well, they pretty much are, considering the ISO rules for being a certified facility.

This IS a US plant. A lot of the "domestic" plants moved to Mexico & Canada.

There is a distinct difference in "corporate culture" between US and Japanese firms, and European ones as well.

    This is what i heard

    Third Phase
    the physical phase.
You spend several hours lifting various blocks of different weight 10,20,30,50 pound boxes and moving them 3 ft away to another area for several hours. they take a lunch break returned after lunch to do it again for several hours more.

You have got to be kidding me.

FYI Toyota - your countrymen have come up with machines that do this, they're called robots.

Trust me, I've loaded many a semi with 110# coffee sacks full of pecans, that's nothing.

But repe ive. Sounds like they want human robots.

I remember seeing a do entary on Henry Ford & how he had to pay twice as much as craftsmen would make elsewhere just to get them to give up their skill & pride to work on an assembly line...I hope that the final job will be much more interesting for tu esposo.

it's a test dude. i think they just want to se if you CAN do it. like an endurance test.
I doubt some guy will be doing that all day every day as his actuall job. even walmart has motorized hand trucks.

I don't know about how "regimented" ISO is Swc. I've done work in facilities that are 9001 certified and from my view up in the peanut gallery, all it really is, is a paperwork/records issue. It also looks like the whole ISO thing is a sham set up by some Euros that really doen't "certify" anything.
