Better than what they currently have, but I'd rather start fresh if I were in their position

Here's a rumor connecting Matt Schaub to the #Raiders. Schaub reportedly "has some fans in the organization": rotoworld.com/player/nfl/16/…

National Football Post's Len Pasquarelli passes along "scuttlebutt" that the Raiders may pursue Matt Schaub once the Texans release him.Schaub's release is a mere formality, as he's owed $11 million in 2014 salary and bonuses and isn't worth half that much. He could command $3-4 million annually on a backup-caliber deal. Per Pasquarelli, Schaub "has some fans in the organization." We hope the Raiders wouldn't be counting on Schaub to start.*Feb 3 - 5:51 PM

The Raiduhhsss need to start anew and build from the QB outward. I don't know if Schaub will ever recover from the Delhomme Syndrome...
Alice Smith and Matt Schaub in the same division
Chiefs
Raiders
Another stupid Raider move, sheesh~~~~~~~~~~~~ I realize all these teams have down years (due to the draft system) but this is getting ridiculous.
I'm by no means a Schaub fan, but if the FO deems this qb class to be a dud (which is an opinion shared by many), wouldn't it make sense to find a 1 year stopgap as opposed to committing a #1 pick and 3-4 years of a QB you aren't sold on?
but even if that was the case, I'd rather go after Vick than Schaub, or look into what it would take to acquire Cousins
if they pay him very little then imho it's a good move. They aren't winning this year anyway and they need every pick they can get to improve that Oline. No point in having a good qb if he'll be invalid the next year. If you can get a great qb, then that's another story of course.
also i think you've won the Siggy Award for first quarter 2014
Jeremiah Johnson....getting more respect than it did in 1972.
Schaub to the Cowboys and you can keep that team![]()
... why?
The better question would be why go after either of those pieces of ?
because they have to get an NFL level QB. many see this draft class as a QB dud year, so why invest a top 5 pick and 3-4 years of development in somebody you find to be mediocre. there are no real options in free agency. it has to be somebody, and its a dry market for qb's. i'd take vick over schaub because at least he can win games once in a while and not just throw pick 6's on a weekly basis. either would be a stopgap, not a guy that will play for the franchise for more than 1 or possibly 2 seasons.
why invest in a qb if there isn't one worthy to invest in?
of course this is all speculation. for all we know, the raiders brass is high on Bortles, or Carr, or Manziel, or Bridgewater, and might take a gamble on one of those guys. i'm just saying that if they find that none of these guys are worthy, then it would make sense to get a stopgap that is NFL caliber, unlike Pryor/McGloin
I just don't consider Michael Vick's body of work in the last decade to be NFL caliber, outside of one season.
