Texas Dems employ automated calls after Abbott’s ‘Third World’ comment
More at http://www.themonitor.com/news/local...7a43b2370.html .The Texas Democratic party launched an automated phone call this week to homes in the Rio Grande Valley in response to remarks made by Texas Attorney General and Republican gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott.
“The creeping corruption resembles Third World country practices that erode the social fabric of our communities and destroys Texans trust and confidence in government,” Abbott said during a Feb. 4 speech in reference to the several corruption scandals in Cameron, Starr and Hidalgo counties.
The “Third World” comment quickly came under fire from local democrats. State Rep. Terry Canales, D-Edinburg said comparing the Valley to the Third World was offensive and ignorant.
The automated calls will go to homes in Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr and Willacy counties and say that Abbott’s comment is damaging to Texas’ border region.

Are you guys serious? yes the valley is corrupted by drug money and mordita. Judges, District Attorneys, cops, police chiefs, mayors...the money to be made is just too tempting. The third world comparison is definitely valid.

Oh, I think politicians have been taking shots at each other forever...you just had to read the newspaper or watch the news to hear about it. Anyone with half a brain knows the valley is a hole of corruption and always has been. It's not a racist hispanic thing, it's a corruption thing.

Read up on the cons utional responsibilities of the Texas Attorney General dumbass. Historically the AG only gets involved in criminal prosecutions at the specific request of local prosecutors.

That type of stuff happens every day in various parts of the country. But when brown people do it they are compared to a third world country.

It's about money and opportunity. The flood of drug shipments across a porous border creates the opportunity. It's not about race.

Abbot's implicit racism towards brown Human-Americans in his own TX is just like some Fox bimbo, or right-wing equivalent, doubting Judge Sotomayor's allegiance to the USA. She was born an American citizen, but that doesn't count. She's brown.
