Agree completely it's what they have to do...which makes it funnier. They are painted into a corner, tbh. Dalton is a game manager who has early symptoms of Turney Romover playoff choking syndrome. Just good enough to have to pay...just bad enough to take you no where.
Yeah, its a matter of keeping him at an affordable deal. He already had a relatively stacked team, with a great defense and an elite WR to chuck the ball to, and still couldn't get it done. If he takes a big contract that forces them to give some of that up, its only going to get uglier. They're going to have to go even more run heavy, and it will be fun to see Bernard get a lions share next year from the get-go
They should draft another QB in the mid rounds and see how Dalton handles this year. He'd need to sign for like $10M per for me to be interested in paying him now.
I have a feeling that Dalton is gonna get paid big just like Ryan and Flacco. Cam is gonna be next. Alot of these teams would rather pay big for a slightly above average QB than to start from scratch and risk having an even worse QB.
you'd think they'd learn but then again marvin lewis is still their coach.
Truth. He's crapped the bed a couple times so perhaps that gets them a discount. If he were to fluke his way to a AFCCG they would get stretched over the log like Flacco did to Baltimore.
