LOL Kobe stans still hate on Shaq to this day! The guy was the main part of them getting three in a row and yet they hate on them for their GOD KOBE! You guys are Kobe fans not LA fans IMO, period.
But Kobe did it
BOSTON — As arguably the greatest coach in basketball history, Phil Jackson won 11 championships with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. If anybody would know the differences between those all-time greats, it’s him. In a panel at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, Jackson shed some light on their work ethics.
“Shaq didn’t work at it,” Jackson said. “Michael was able to succeed despite all kinds of limitations in his game. He couldn’t hit an outside shot. He couldn’t defend. But all of that went away because of his work ethic. Kobe saw that as a pinnacle that he had to reach, and he took it to a whole new level.”
After winning three straight les with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2000 to 2002, O’Neal and Bryant had a famous falling out, and Jackson pointed to their personalities as a cause.
“Shaq had a clown role he had to play,” he said. “So that was part of the rift.”
O’Neal’s outsized personality made him one of the most popular players in the NBA, but it clashed with Bryant’s serious-minded approach. In the end, Kobe won out.

Of course the truth comes out now. Media made enough money out of the lie, so now the truth can be exposed for some more loose change.
The dynasty broke because Kobe was too much of a to accept his second fiddle role. They were right to choose the young gun over the diesel at the time, but truth be told they shouldn't have had to make a choice, but Kirby refused to coexist and ran shaq outPERIOD
Though it was Kobe who started it up in Portland/'00 when Media had the hemp rope and a tree picked out just for Daddy. But, you know what, that ain't between "us." That's between Kobe & Daddy and has been accounted for.
Kobe was destined to be that team's ace by mid-decade. Eventually he would've been the guy that carried the tired old bag Shaq to consecutive les.
Thank you. He wasn't going to be "Gilligan" to Daddy's "The Skipper." No.
And the proof is in the pudding:::
Kobe: 2
Daddy: 1
I'm one of few Laker fans thats still a huge Shaq fan tbh
What makes me mind boggled though is LA fans just seem to hate Shaq now but when he was there during the three peat I am sure they did like the guy and were cheering when he dunked on so and so! Later on after his monstrous run he had it is blame Shaq and he was lazy blah blah blah! Do they not respect the guy for what he did for the team during that le run or le runs I should say? Shaq was the most feared dominant force on the planet then, period.
I always got love for the Diesel for the great years/moments/games he gave us, but its always been known that he became extremely lazy after the 2nd le. He wasn't as dedicated, was a fat in the offseason, but could get away with it b/c he was still in his prime and the most dominant player in the game.
Hindsight looks even better as far as the breakup is concerned--he had basically 1.5 good seasons left in him, but wanted more money + years than that and obviously he declined FAST starting in the 2006 Finals. It was the right move.
Daddy broke ranks first. I have no problem with a Laker leaving in glad tidyings, Horry, Vuj, the list is long. Daddy thought shows his ass and for that I don't forgive. It helps that Kobe ran him to ground and sent him into the dust that is always the end down 1, but, I still won't forget.
That was still my favorite team of all time, but Dr. Buss made the right call. You dont give Max money to Shaq who had a serious toe injury and only 3 years left in his prime when you know Kobe is going to go make another franchise even richer.
Jim would have lost both Shaq and Kobe and signed Gary Payton to a max contract tbh
Still he is the main reason for the three in a row, the most dominant player on the planet those years. No fan can ever deny that! IT IS WRITTEN!Yes but Kobe gets 48 mill or near that with an achillies injury after last year with 0 years left in his prime? I see what you are saying but that contradicts what you said there about Shaq and Shaq had three years left in his prime and not zero plus he helped them win three les as the main force.Thats cool! I always wondered why most do not like the guy still? He did so much for the team in his prime and was just that dominant force we had not seen before! I am a huge Shaq fan as a whole! I love the fact you are a huge fan still, respect there as some turned their back on him.
1) As I said, the Kobe contract is purely a Jim Buss decision. Dr. Buss would have shipped Kobe's ass out for some first round picks and rebuild. Hence the joke if Jim ran the team then he'd lose both Kobe and Shaq and sign Payton to a max contract. Jim Buss is a ing moron, he is infamously known as a ing moron. I cant understand how this happened to the Lakers of all franchises, its a haters dream come true
2) Most hate Shaq because 90% of Laker fans became Kobe die hards and Kobe clearly has a grudge against Shaq. The grudge stems from the fact IMHO that Kobe feels if not for Shaq he would get more credit for those 3 and he had to take a back seat. To be fair to Kobe, if the Lakers had built around him since day 1 we would get to see how great he really was. I personally think 5 rings was the max he could reach and he did.
From @stevekylerNBA: "Jackson said that the rift between Shaq and Kobe came down to Shaq opting for surgery before camp and in Kobe's mind it cost them 4th le"O'Neal's explanation why he didn't he didn't have offseason foot surgery earlier riled Bryant.
"I got hurt on company time, Shaq said. "So I'll rehab on company time."classic daddy
I can't argue with a word you just said there, that is all the truth. Good post.
Exactly. Just because the old man didn't call the L.A. Times and take a fit didn't mean he didn't take note of what Daddy had said. He heard it. And there was a consequence. The old man chose right, like "Indie" in "The Last Crusade."
Of course Shaq gets the blame. No one wants to put 05 on Kobe with Shaq immediately ringing his first year in Miami. They should have had 4-5 rings together.
what I'm disturbed by is that Deads and Lakersarethebesteva just blatantly ripping of Kool's ...how many times have I said this before? I previously posted the vid above of Phil Jackson's Brokeback comments...you guys are lame and beta's of Kool...be original come on fellas...I posted this years ago...is being behind the times the new fad?
Except he didn't win his first year in Miami.
I had the original Brokeback comment (not the apology) as my sig back before the Koolaid user handle existed...nice try, Ced.
all I ask is you stop jocking my style..or give credit where it's due..I don't appreciate that ...I know I plagiarize all the time but do as I say not as I do
