I haven't read the whole thing beginning to end, but I've read large excerpts of it (including every reference to America) and I was surprised how analytical it is. It is still essentially the ravings of a mad man, but it did give me some very good insight into Hitler's thinking and justification for the things he did. Have you read it?

I have it on paperback. Poorly written but interesting nonetheless. Most of it is raving, but there's also a lot of truth in it.

I think Hitler got lulled into a false sense of security since it seemed as though no country he wasn't already invading would actually resist him until GB finally did. I don't think he ever wanted to face the U.S. -- at least not until he had conquered all of Europe, but Japan pressured him into declaring war against the U.S. after Pearl Harbor which he likely didn't even see coming.

The eugenics stuff is of course completely outdated and laughable.
The Jew paranoia is so overdone its funny.
The parts I read were horribly written, maybe the English translation.
Other parts were so incredibly redundant... Could not forge thru the clutter.

you have to remember that this was fresh off WW1, which was strictly the product of nationalism. with the defeat of the germans in WW1, hitler needed someone to blame in order to restore faith in the german master race that it wasn't their weaknesses that led to failure but others.

I read it because I wanted to understand what the jerk was about. But it is truly rant-worthy.

He is so nuts in it you begin to realize why some in Germany didn't take him all that seriously…they kept thinking that he would be 'exposed'.

My favorite Hitler quote is the one from 1937 when he said "Give me 10 years and you won't recognize Berlin." And he was right!!!

He only attacked the USSR because Stalin was gearing up to attack him. If he hadn't, the soviets probably would have beat him a lot easier later on.
