real question is the allocation of minutes if Spurs played in the East. That would be hilarious.

The Spurs bench would win 70 games in the east.

No question. They have 50 wins with the following players missing games:

    Splitter 20 games
    Kawhi 15 games
    Parker 11 games
    Manu 11 games
    Green 10 games
    Timmy 5 games

Duncan, Parker & ginobili will average 12 minutes a game in the east, possibly less

I agree Pop probably wouldn't try or care, but the East is so bad. The Spurs 2nd unit could make the playoffs in the East, so it's possible.

Took this from another site. It gives us the head-to-head matchups & records between top teams. Note the amount of games that Indy and Miami have played against top teams.

With 15 50+ win seasons consecutively, obviously it wouldn't matter if we hit 70 wins because we are expected to ring and nothing short of that is noteworthy.

nope, cuz we'd be so far ahead in the rankings from the ty teams that pop would be sitting players constantly.

Spurs have a 28-10 (0,736%) record vs the West and 22-6 (0,785%) record vs East

They have a better percentage vs East but it's still close. A 0,785% give them 64 wins on a season

Remember all that belly-aching that everybody was doing about the Spurs "losing to the top teams" in the middle of December with half the roster in bandages?

Now the Spurs are 12-10 against the top 9 teams, which is third-best in the league behind OKC and Miami (the latter of whom, as you noted, has played 7 less games than the Spurs against the top tier).

That 10 game winning streak doesn't hurt, either.

I could see it. The East is basically just three solid teams and pure after that.

What a relief. That 0-9 record really upset me last year. Looks like Spurs got their together

old stats, Portland is now a 2 for the Spurs. Spurs win about seven more games in the east IMO.

Pop would probably sit the starters for half the season in the East, so I'm not sure we'd win 70 games.

They could win it but I would dread having to watch too many games against Cleveland, Toronto, Charlotte and Orlando. I can't believe Miami has a worse record than the Spurs right now and they're in the East.

I don't think we'd get to 70. Pop would be resting guys like he always does and we'd end up around 62-66.

Good stats. So basically we're 3rd in win% against top teams behind only Miami and OKC. And Miami hasn't played many games against the juggernauts in the NBA like we have.

That does make me feel more impressed with and more worried about OKC though. They've been playing without Westbrook for a good while this year and Durant has finally morphed into what looks like all time great in his absence. Durant imo is better than peak Kobe at this point, and I don't feel the least bit guilty saying it.

One thing we could also take into account is not only do we pay in the western conference, but our division always had 4 of 5 teams in playoff contention.

2/3 of the Pacers schedue are vs teams from the East.

2/3 of the Spurs schedule are vs teams from the West.

I believe we're MUCH better than the Pacers, who have 49 wins right now playing 2/3 of their schedule vs the East.

Were something like 36-2 vs teams with losing records. If we played in the East, we'd be playing nothing but teams with losing records. Absolutely we could get to 70 wins.
