Ok
Kawhi has a history of playing his best ball when matched up against Rudy Gay.
I think Rudy Gay is officially Leonard's arch rival.
I'll never forget when Kawhi faced off against him in the legendary 2012 season and shut his ass down. Amazing.
Kawhi had his number even stepping on to the court as a rookie.
That's what I'm saying
Kawhi always steps up against him
Always
there must be bad blood, kawhi has a rival
I think Gay rookie trash talked him. Mistake.
^ Was just going to post that.
That's exactly what happened.
I wouldn't say they're rivals, since Gay hasn't been relevant in years. But Gay may well be the player Leonard likes the least, and they're probably equally matched physically. It would be a fascinating one-on-one to see.
you guys are delusional, rudy gay is having a very solid year
Half year. He was still sucking donkey s in Toronto before the trade.
he's been killing it since the trade though.
Kawhi is the polar opposite of Rudy Gay..
Rudy has a fluid shot making motion, is an inefficient iso player who takes bad shots and is a poor team defense player (check his clips defending Kawhi in this game at stats.nba.com). He takes too many shots for his own good and was basically killing his teams. An overpaid ball-hog, underwhelming defensive player who has more hype than performance.
Kawhi is the exact opposite. He stays within the system, doesn't force shots, has outstanding and disruptive defensive skills, is good at team defense and is on a rookie contract paying him a pittance as compared to his overall play.
I'll give him props for that. Most players tune out criticism as if their game were perfect. It's not often you see a reformed chucker, like almost never.
Rudy Gay ending Kawhis stint with Spurs as well.
