This is great for us. They're the 3rd best defense in the league, but without Iguodala, they're nowhere near that mark.

BTW, he has knee tendinitis, like Kawhi had last year.

I wonder if Pop will bench the big 3. I'd be fine with benching Duncan, but I hope Parker/Ginobili play. We're far from having the 1st seed locked up, and HCA will be big in the playoffs. OKC, LAC, Houston, Miami...all of them are dominant at home.

My feeling is that Golden State will really want to beat us seeing as were 2-0 vs them this year and the last time we beat them we did so without our big 3 and on their home court. They're going to remember that. And if we try to do it again...

Also, they have 5 days off after they play us tomorrow. So they'll be extra-motivated to give everything before their long layoff. This is going to be a tough game, and with us probably resting startes and GSW motivated to break our winning streak I see us...

Destroying them. Patty Mills OWNS Steph Curry and the Foreign Legion alone is better than 90% of the teams in the NBA. Spurs win 110-90.

Iggy's offensive production might blow you away but with him Golden State's defense improved from 13th in defensive effiiciency last year to 3rd this year (while Denver slipped from 11th to 21st).

If the Spurs win tonight, they'll drop their magic number three spots. Big game in that regard.

Lol no he's not. Their team's DRtg is 98.3 when he's on the court (would be 1st in the NBA). That number skyrockets to 106.6 when he's off the court.

And before anyone even says it: the same drop-off happens when Bogut leaves the court, but it's not as severe. So it's not like this is just a result of Iguodala playing alongside Bogut usually.

Like I said initially, the Warriors' defense is heavily dependent on Iguodala. He is what turns them into an elite defense.

The last game before a 5 day rest for Golden State. I bet they are looking ahead to the mini-vacation and are not that motivated tonight. I would like to see more Corey Joseph tonight, and maybe even some Austin Daye. BTW I am still stunned by that block Tiago Splitter did on Pau Gasol the other night. When he is healthy he can be really good.

Agree about Tim, he played 34 minutes last game and maybe he needs rest vs GSW. But even Kawhi could be out because he played 31 minutes...?

    Pop said to Mike Monroe:
"Depending on what happens tonight — if we blow them out or they blow us out — our guys will probably play (Saturday) because we won't give them many minutes. But if this is a one-point game and all our guys are in the 30s (in minutes played), win or lose it means those guys probably aren't going to see the hardwood tomorrow."

    I hope not.

I don't know, it could be the opposite. They could be really fired up to beat us before they get a bit of rest. They also are extra motivated since we knocked them out of the playoffs last year and have beaten them every time we've played them this year.

No offense, but I don't know why people here are acting like last time (when we beat them without the big 3) is a sign that we can beat them whenever we want no matter who we throw out on the court. Remember last year when we almost beat Miami without our big 3, and then the next time we played they sat LeBron/Wade, and we still lost even using our full squad? One game doesn't mean anything. It was awesome that we beat them on national TV without our main guys, sure...but let's not get overly y. I highly doubt Pop is looking to utilize Austin Daye when we're playing on the road against a team that is 44-26. Our foreign legion cannot beat these guys consistently lol...anyone who actually thinks that is delusional. I love our role players as much as the next guy, but c'mon now.

Like I said though, it is nice that Iguodala won't be playing. It's a big blow to their defense. We should hopefully be able to get a win even if we rest Duncan. I think Parker/Ginobili should play though.

I agree with most of this but we have to admit, we are in their heads. I live in the SF Bay Area and can tell you how much the Warriors and their fan base keep mentioning how we are their measuring stick. Listening on local radio this morning, Curry kept talking about they feel they have to beat us today for a confidence booster. They feel pressure to beat us and even avoid us in the playoffs as far as they could. I respect them but we have a definite advantage over them psychologically.

I don't know. Five days off, when they're in the middle of fighting three other teams for playoff position? I think they come out aggressive. Pop is still looking to conserve the big 3's playing time but it's also quite obvious at this point that he's not letting the No. 1 overall seed go quietly. Not when the Spurs are going to have to get through Houston/Portland just to play OKC and MAYBE Miami in the Finals. The Spurs were gifted an easy WCF matchup last season, such is not likely to be the case this time around.

I think Pop limits minutes tonight but he clearly wants HCA throughout the postseason more than ever before, and I expect GS to come out pretty hard.

Long before tipoff against the Kings coach Gregg Popovich had made his plans for the lineup that would face the Golden State Warriors in the second game of a back-to-back set that will conclude the final extended road trip of the season.
    Minutes for Duncan/Parker/Ginobili/Leonard

    TD-34
    Manu-24
    TP-28
    Kawhi-31

By Popovich's reckoning, that likely rules out Duncan against the Warriors, and perhaps Parker.
"I hope not," Duncan said. "I feel good. I did play 30-some minutes but I don't feel like I did. Not playing well does that to you."

"I imagine I will go to the game tomorrow and he will say he thinks it's smart if I sit and I will say I want to play and then he's going to go do Tim and it will be the same situation.
"Sometimes you can't convince him. He's sure and he sits you. Sometimes there's a dialogue. We'll see what happens (Saturday)."

I'll be at the game so of course everyone (the big 4) will probably sit.

I can see sitting Duncan because he hasn't missed any time. But Leonard, Manu, and Tony all had some extended rest not that long ago.
