The best back the Jets ever had was (Pitt) Curtis Martin and then (UCLA) Freeman McNeil, neither was known for his speed. They had a burst then ran hard, that's what ya need especially in todays NFL. A guy who relies on mostly speed had better be 22-28 ish. Johnson is too old now to be anything but a situational player, he no longer has that mega-zoom.
Jamaal Charles (legit sprinter while at Texas) is the "da man" if we are talking about the fast running back. But where will he be once the jets cool? That's what I mean by bringing in older "speed" backs. While a back with some power can play longer, power doesn't evaporate while speed does. Adrian Peterson being the perfect blend of both.
Frank Gore was never a speedster and look at his production. Then there's LaMichael James who is one of the fastest backs in the league staying on the bench.
I don't see Johnson helping out that much unless the Jets use him more in the passing game. Chris Ivory still their best back.
Let me guess...14?
Entering a thread to tell the OP ya didn't read it, hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about stupid, wow!

Let's look at the fastest running back to ever play for the various teams. Yep, their track exploits meaning everything.
Since ya don't know...10's are for meters, if ya see a 9, that's for yards.
Niners...James Owens world class hurdler
Rams...Ollie Matson Olympic sprinter
Seahawks...Curt Warner
Cards...Terry Metcalf a 25-10 long jumper while at LBSt (father of Eric)
Packers...Travis Williams a 9.3 guy
Vikings...Robert Smith was a college 400 guy, but could he take Peteson in a 100?
Bears...Gale Sayers led the nation in the long jump as a HSer
Lions...Reggie Bush a 10.4 guy in HS
Cowboys...Herschel Walker a 10.23 cat while at Georgia
Eagles...Cyril Pinder ran a 9.4 while at Illionois
Redskins...John Riggins, here it gets kindsa funky, big John was a Kansas state 100 champ in HS but a lot lighter.
Giants...Butch Woolfolk at 9.4 guy while at Michigan
Saints...Darren Sproles
Falcons...Warrick Dunn, he was a 10.4 guy while at FSU
Panthers...probably DeAngelo Williams...hmmm?
Buc's...well James Owens was also a Buc.
Raiders..Bo Jackson ran a 9.5 in HS. This guy could have been at least an NCAA stud sprinter if not for football.
Chargers...Paul Lowe an Oregon State hurdler
Chiefs..Jamaal Charles a 10.1 guy while at Texas (they also had Joe Delaney a 9.4 guy)
Broncos...Floyd Little a 9.6 guy while at Syracuse (can't count Trindon Holliday)
Ravens....they've never had a speed back.
Steelers..."Fast" Willie Parker. The Steelers had always had bangers except "Fast" Willie.
Browns...Eric Metcalf a 27-8 long jumper, that is best by any NFLer
Bengals...Paul Robinson their first 1000 yard rusher, he was a 400 hurdler while at Arizona
Bills...O.J.Simpson a 9.4 guy who ran on a WR 4x1 team while at USC.
Jets...Emerson Boozer
Patriots....Craig James the only white guy to make this list, he was a 9.6 guy.
Dolphins....Eugene "Mercury" Morris
Colts...Curtis ey the only NFL running back to ever be world ranked as an NCAA sprinter. A 10.10 guy.
ans...Chris Johnson
Jags...see Ravens
Texans...see Ravens

All that typing and yet nobody cares.
How does that make you feel
Let me explain something to ya little man.....
While you get your nut following others around to bug them I like to share things I know. As we see you accomplish...0...by doing what you do but do you ever stop.? Blake, how does it make you feel that everyone pities your dumbass and hate to see you in their threads? You are a re guy and its sad to watch.
Now watch this freak totally ignore what I just told him.
Blake, we can all talk about today, I'm that guy who can do it all![]()
Prob mostly copy/paste from his other posts here and other forums. He probably also has a folder full of lists to dig into.
What I actually have is a file system using index cards. Something I started doing back in high school. I have all the colleges and those tracksters that meet my criteria. I then have all the NFL teams and those track athletes that played for them. The worlds authority on the track/football connection and you guys get it all for free.

Avante, who are my Chargers tracksters again, as ya know I can't remember .
No problem little guy.
Anthony Miller a 10.2 guy out of Tennesee
Curtis Conway a former Cali HS 100 champ, who ran a 10.2 at USC
Leslie "Speedy" Duncan a 21.0 200yard guy while at Jackson State.
Paul Lowe ran the hursles while at Oregon State
Willie McGee who actually tied the 9.1 100 yard world record while at Alcorn
Why are you here little man? Why do I need to be simple like you and the others?
Not crazy about the Track and Field spamming, but the contents of your OP are spot-on. The speedsters aren't even useful as 3rd down/utility backs when they age--with very few exceptions.
Nobody asked, got, STFU

Avante how about an AFC West fantasy 4x1 relay?
Cool~~~~~~~
lane
1.Oakland Raiders "A"....Jacoby Ford...Alvis Whitted...Ron Brown..Willie Gault
2.San Diego Chargers...Curtis Conway...Anthony Miller...."Speedy" Duncan...Willie McGee
3.Oakland Raiders "B"...Cliff Branch...James Trapp...James Jett...Bo Roberson
4.Kansas City Chiefs...Stone Johnson...Sammie Parker...Joe Delaney...Jamaal Charles
5.Oakland Raiders "C'...Alexander Wright...Rocket Ismail...Stanford Routt...Bo Jackson
6.Denver Broncos...Jerry Tarr...Sam Graddy***....Rick Upchurch...Trindon Holliday
7.Oakland Raiders "D"...Napolean Kaufman...Justin Fargas...Rod Barksdale...Warren Wells
*** also a Raider
Sharing info that took years to ac ulate is spamming?
While I'd draft a speed back I'd have to have a great reason to keep one. That college speed is short lived in the NFL.

What about Barry Sanders, Vante? He was pretty good tbh.
As was Tony Dorsett, Eric erson, O.J.Simpson and some others. Then there's college sprinters/running backs...
Sultan McCullough USC
Anrew Hopkins SFAustin
Laverne Smith Kansas
Bob Paremore FAMU
Eugene White FAMU
Butch Woolfolk Michigan
"Squirmin' " Sherman Lewis Michigan
...who never really made it despite the jets.
At the NFL level it's more about a quick bursts and being able to break tackles. Speed alone isn't enought, unless these guys are put out in space. Sure there are exceptions.
Big backs beat down a defense that can't be said about guys like Barry Sanders.
